or perhapse all-encompassing in its performance attributes. My car feels "expansive" both when I drive it, and when I try to safely fit that thing in storage, lol

My pleasure. You figure out how my friends got over 700whp out of a stock S2K engine yet? Curious if you ever followed up with that/how they managed it? I stopped hanging out with that little click a few years ago, but was curious as to how that thing lived with that much boost and compression.

Found this discussed on the ffr forum. They bring up some valid points about the crash thing and they also compare it to a c6 allot. Either way i think it would be somewhat safe on the streets although from what i read some improvements to the frame wouldn't hurt.

What was mentioned is part of what bothers me. Crash testing is not required for this vehicle, nor was it done. It was thought out, designed on the computer, and sold to "you". Of course you will find more 'vettes that got jacked up, but here is a picture of my former roommates C5. It left the road after hitting a concrete barrier at 55mph and flipped 3 times going down an embankment.

He and his passenger suffered a few cuts and he probably had a code-brown. Both are just fine, and he has a few very minor scars from it. No broken bones or "serious" injuries. Lots of blood from what i heard as his scalp got nicked from the lexan roof that shattered (why I hate those removable roofs and refuse to own a 'vette with one). Head wounds bleed a lot. Anyway, RIP C5, glad he and his were in a safe car that had been properly tested.

I think everyone is missing the key difference between the extruded aluminum type chassis vs. the steel tube versions used in a lot of race cars. Energy absorption. Your moms Corolla is loaded with crumple zones which take up precious volume and add weight to the car all to keep her brain from bouncing all over the place in her skull and organs from detaching themselves upon impact. All the gear connected to the pilots in serious race cars are meant to make up for the lack of crumple zones while keeping the weight down.

I have had my eye on the GTM Supercar and feel that it's almost to the point where I would buy one. They have enough years under their belts and enough track time for me to call them solid. I wouldn't mind using it as a daily driver either.

Yeah, this thread was right in both sides of the argument. And you clarified it by showing arguing wasn't necessary based on application specific usefulness.
