Well, i was following up with this car from one year.

100% the car will have a Boxer engine with turbo that will develop 275+ hp

100% the car will be lower priced than the 370z (they mentioned it in the Reveling of the car at Geneva Motor show)

The production will start at the end of this year ( some countries will receive the car at the beginning of 2012)

There will be fancy version Which is the FT-86 G ( will include some carbon fiber parts perhaps same the above pics)

0-60 toyo-Baru claiming flat 5 seconds!!

well, i bet that all of the above info will be true and u will see them in the production car!!

Flat 5 sec. with 275 hp at the crank. I doubt it unless it weights less than 2,000 lbs. and had gobbs of torque. Unlikely since most are saying a N/A 2.0 litre Boxer 4-cylinder. Adding a turbo will place it closer to the Z price range. No way they can justify a turbo'd vesion for under $30K USD.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to call BS on a lot of these.

I don't see it having a turbo. I WANT it to have a turbo, but the 2l boxer they are throwing in it hasn't been mated to a turbo yet. Likewise, I know Toyota was pushing in the NA direction.

Also, if it did have a turbo and it is as light as they say it is, it would be faster to 60 than 5 seconds.

The turbo remains unknown -- they had a G's concept with one, but nothing has been confirmed for production (unfortunately). I am hopeful they will, but it remains speculation.

Will definitely be on sale in 2012 in Europe, tho'.

Price is, last I heard, in the upper 20K's USD now, but that too has not been confirmed.

Well, BS anything u like. there might be a version with a turbo and a version without. but i cannot say that with a turbo it will be faster than 5 seconds cause i dont know the weight. well, about the price. the STI Got turbo and its less than 33k in my country. so i believe Toyota can make a turbo version with ony RWD with less than 32K.!!

I like the Gen Coupe to a degree, but I'd pick this over it. There are rumors it could wear a Scion badge, so your statement could have some valid points.

i heared that it will be with a scion Badge in the US, but i dont agree!! if that soo. it mean that it will hit the middle east with Daihatsu badge!!

i think it will come with Toyota Badge all over the world!!

i heared also the Toyota renewed the trade mark of the Supra in the US!! but i dont think they will use it in time being or will use it for the ft-86!!

Everything I've seen on this car states a target of 2700lbs for weight with it chances being somewhere between 2800-3000lbs. Power is supposed to be a N/A with 200-220hp. No plans for turbo or AWD. Again, thats just what I've seen on different message boards regarding this car. Even the Suby boards are saying it will be the first non-AWD car from subaru and won't even get a turbo. I guess we really don't know until it comes out

Failure depends on what you are looking for. They originally made it clear this would be a light more or less 200 HP RWD sport coupe. To me that would be perfect as a daily driver. If they keep to that original vision, in my eyes that would be a win. It would be a failure to me if they beefed it up to 300+ HP @ around 3200 + lbs. That would make it a different class of car for a different target audience and I would no longer be interested.
