If they come out wih the 5.0l in the coupe, I'll certainly be looking at it. You'd be silly not to at least look at a car w/that much power at that price point. It may not make the overall grade, but it's power per buck ratio will be impressive. Many are saying they can't fit it into the coupe but I find that odd. Do they really have different engine bay sizes between the coupe and sedan? That just seems odd.

I stand corrected but they actually do have an r-spec V6 now too (just checked the website). Didn't realize they slipped in a few extra models of the coupe, including an r-spec V6. To restate my idea more correctly, they need to introduce a new coupe with bigger balls (aka engine upgrade) to compete with the Z.

I stand corrected too when did they introduce a r-spec v6!

I must be silly then as I would not look at it...

Actually they do have different engine bay sizes, I believe two years ago a company for SEMA putted the V8 into the gen coupe and had to do a lot of modifications and ended up making it a a mid-engine car with the engine right behind the seats.

You can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig. Lot more to making Hyundai Gen Coupe competitive with Z by just upping HP. Its a weak sports car by any measure.

no. its a weak sports car by a completely biased opinion like yours.

its alot better than most people on here are willing to give it credit for. Not a z by any means, but then im sure theres a crowd out there calling our z's pigs.

imho comparing a hyundai to a 370 is like comparing a corvette to a mustang.

im proud i purchased a 2006 fully loaded v6 hyundai sonata that at 90k miles has never given one problem and at the time of purchase cost 9k less than a equivalent camry/accord.

and comparing the 2 is nothing like what you mentioned... but dont worry, give it more time and you'll look back at statements like these and go oops guess i was wrong.

Because turn the clock back to early 90's.. hell no one really purchased a nissan (other than the z which was about the only well reknown car in the US)

turn it back even further hell if you purchased a toyota you'd be ashamed..

The thing i guess people dont realize cus they wanna be stuck in the now and dont think things through is that times change and with it, the companies you love/trust change.

1999. ABIT motherboards were great and EVGA was the evil horrible company

today, asus motherboards and evga is the brand to get for reliability and awesome service.

To all those people who knock "lesser badges", open your eyes they are maki9ng some great machines, that 5.0L V8 hyundai engine sounds great. It is these badges that keep the so called "prestige/premium badges" on their feet.

Point well made it takes time to change peoples opinion of car models.
i may be proven wrong in the future but i don't think there will ever be a hyundai that will match up with the 370 or any future Z model. besides it's not comparing apples to apples anyway. imo.

precisely.

I mean i think its cool that they get compared. the Gen isnt gonna win except in a value added perspective. where someone who isnt a complete sports car fan, would like the Gen more over the z.

And I think thats where Hyundai wanted to go with the car too.

I mean comeon, we sit here alot and make comments about alot of people/companies like "WTF were they thinking" but people have to remember, we on forums like this, are not your average everyday people. I say the same thing to the guys on tech forums who only think like themselves. We are a small percentage..

The Z isnt for everyone. The Genesis is more for everyone.

And one day, Hyundai will probably make a car, which Nissan will try to match up against... truthfully as of right now, the new sonata hybrid and even regular sonata are quite amazing.

I test drove a brand new Genesis 4.6L sedan last year. I thought the car was completely overrated. It wants to compare to an S class? Really? The drivetrain was rough/transmission was slow/interior was barely passable. It should be compared to a Maxima, not an S class

You are correct. It was Rhys Millen Racing.
