OFFICIAL US PRICING for 2012 GTR 89,950 and 95,100 for BLACK EDITON!

Cool. I wonder how long they'll run the DBA R35 before going to the R36 or if they'll even have another R35 refresh and THEN go to an R36. MC

MC any ideas man? I know it's way to early to really tell but me and Juno are looking at picking up another GTR in the next 2-3 years assuming our plans pan out etc.

I thought they said this refresh was the mid point or so, they hope to improve upon the R35.

Yeah, I've always figured that the R35 will run from 2009-2015 or so, so there could be one last refresh. Mizuno has stated/hinted before about continually improving on the platform and with the world economy in the state it's in, it is cheaper for Nissan to run the R35 platform with significant refreshed every few years or so vs developing a whole new R36 but I guess we'll see...

yeah when the car launched at the 2007 tokyo motor show mizuno said the "real" GTR would take 3 years to perfect...so the 2012 model is that car.... in a recent interview he said the R35 had 5 more years in the life cycle...but he is also stepping down this year so who knows whats going to happen to the car after that.... i would expect to see atleast 3 more years of the R35 with very midl changes past this DBA refresh... the next major change shouldnt be until the all new R36 if/when that happens and if/when it makes it to the US

I think the car is way too heavy to last another 5 years. It's a 3900# car. Even the mustang and camaro are going to be made lighter for YM2014. The only other car that fat is a caddy. I think that a YM2014 R36 in the 3400# or less range would be a good idea. Will they do it? Who knows...

Who cares about weight? I thought that the point of the car was that in spite of its girth, it can lap a track like a Vette. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about weight reduction over power bumps, but the GT-R is spectacular in part because of its cheating the laws of physics, not in spite of it.

Less weight will do nothing but make the GT-R better. Maybe then it can lap the track much faster than a 'vette.


Do you also date 400# women just because it's amazing that they can still walk?

Just because something defy's physics doesn't mean it's a good idea, or optimal.

the weight is a complete non issue on the car in real life.. the only people who complain about weight are people who see the stats in a magazine.. in a column next to another car that might be lighter....but the GTR is a sub 3 sec 0-60 just over 7:20 ring time and probably a 10.9-11.0 1/4 mile car... what more can you ask for? you have the elite exotics that weigh almost nothing that barely reach or dont even do those #'s

everything about the GTR works together to make it what it is.... no one who owns the car or is truely interested in buying one says yea those #'s are really good but im gonna pass on it because its a few hundred pounds to heavy.. its weight is just something thats easy for detractors to take a shot at..... even put in its worst environment a very tight autocross course.. the car does feel big compared to the s2000's or something like that but the actual weight still doesnt really come into play...

it is what it is.... and weight will be the last thing that determines how long it lasts... the over 90K price tag will be the decider

I think the reason people are putting so much focus on weight now is because the green movement is, again, shutting down power increases so we must turn again to cutting weight. The difference this time though is Nissan is already ahead of the game with a good weight high power car ahead of the curve.

Can they cut some weight? Sure, but then you have to go all the way back to the beginning of the design to re-balance this car. Which is one of the major factors it is so great, its weight is a non-factor once you drive, track, etc.

It could handle better with less weight. It could be faster with less weight. Nissan is compensating for the weight by adding power and wider tires. Why not cut some fat, too?
