You should try the Brembo GTs. They have stiffer springs and shocks/struts than the regular GTs. And they've got the GT500 control arms and Pirelli PZero summer tires.

Now I wanna race you, Steve, but safely, at highway speeds, since neither of us wants to mess up the nice cars that we obsess over. :roflpuke2::roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

We'll race from 60 to 65 miles per hour. But at different times so it does not appear that we are racing. We will convene at a Starbucks in Fairfax and discuss the results.

Why not race against me? I think it would be a more competitive race, as long as Shado has both his seats back in. :icon17:

Has anyone else noticed the trend where every mustang thread turns gay at some point or another? :stirthepot:

They had a really good vid on the Mustang vs the M3. In the end; the M3 beat out the Mustang on their lap time by a 10th of a sec. Anyway; good vid if you care to watch:

YouTube - Super Coupes Track Attack! - 2011 Ford Mustang GT vs 2011 BMW M3 Coupe

On a side note; I think most people would consider trading in their ride for a nice M3 even though BMW hasn't put out an interesting/good looking interior in years (granted that is just my op - one of the main reasons why I chose my G35 over a BMW to begin with) so I have to wonder about the whole 'bashing of American cars based off of interior alone' :)

I won't bash the Mustang's current interior. I've seen Steve's. It's quite :yum:

don't get me wrong...the new Mustang is NOICE but I still want a Z for my next car; just waiting to see what Nissan does for their 2013 model so I'll be keeping the G for a little while longer. Like everyone else; I hope they give it more power but who knows. In the end; I like both cars a lot; just like the looks of the Z a bit more than the Mustang.

m4a1mustang 04-22-2011 04:15 PM

They are both awesome cars for sure. Like I was saying earlier ideally I'd have a 370Z Roadster to go along with the 'Stang. That would be a pretty nice garage. :D

Doubt it will go anywhere with Gas prices still climbing.

the Z is a pretty good look car no doubt. one of the best things about the car is that its rarer than the mustang. at least where i live.
i was about to get a Z, but i like to do a lot of engine work on my cars, and i would rather get a V8 than a Japanese v6. for modding. thats just me .

I don't think the people that buy cars like that care about gas prices all that much.

ya really. plus i bet it will come down. people do not understand that gas can not just sky rocket and stay that high. it will cause major problems world wide. and they will HAVE to lower the price at the pump......

We'll be back under $4 soon enough... but not until we peak a little bit over $5 first. :icon17:

People where I live are millionaires because of it. Ever hear of the Hanesville Shale?

Anyway, it's all EPA crap why we aren't drilling our own. What happened in the Gulf sure didn't help any.

Either you like this, and the mustang's styling, or the Z's styling, etc. is enough to overcome this for you.

At least, that's how I see it.

Hate to wake you up from your dream but in almost every instrumented testings, aka magazine tests, the Z consistently outgrips, outhandles, and outbrakes the 5.0 GT. The only thing the 5.0 GT has on the Z is straight line acceleration, that's not a surprise here considering the 5.0 GT has a large V8.

Was this a direct comparison between the two you're talking about? I haven't seen one yet, but if you can give a link to one that would be great. I think that huge power difference alone would be enough for the 5.0 to beat the Z around a track though. In tighter autoX courses it might be a different story. The 5.0 GT is currently at/near M3 (best bang for buck supercar under $100k ;)) performance level and I don't think the Z is quite there.

Red__Zed 04-24-2011 07:05 AM

Did somebody say bang for buck?

Not that I have seen. They are very close. The Z might have a tiny edge over the GT on paper, but it's very minimal.

Here is an example:

http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...61a7a3bb51.pdf

vs.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take_road_test

The 370Z pulled .04g more and stopped from 70mph in 2 feet less.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/var/ezfl...06745e8d34.pdf

http://www.roadandtrack.com/var/ezfl...a75bba7421.pdf

Again, VERY close outcomes. The Z handles the slalom only 1.4mph quicker, and the GT out-brakes it from 60 barely, but the Z wins from 80, barely. The GT threw down some dismal skidpad numbers here, though.

In the end, the 370Z MIGHT be a LITTLE more nimble, but it's a lot less powerful.

Red__Zed 04-24-2011 09:40 AM

No doubt on the power. That's the reason the stang owns around a track.

A diff of .04 G is pretty huge though, especially given how bad the understeer in the z is from the factory-- although the undersized mustang tires do play a role.
