I will trade in both the Subaru and the Z for TWO of those if they get that right.

I'd do it too. A 6 speed manual for happy time and the dual-clutch automatic for happy time + commuting. :icon18:

For the next model change we can expect a direct-injected 5.0 in a smaller, lighter platform with IRS. Think around the same size as the 94-04s and somewhere around 3200-3350 lbs.

Hopefully, Ford's new management seems to understand weight reduction.

So what is your method of not causing the grind in the GT500? People are already trying all sorts of stuff. Making sure the clutch pedal is on the metal, pulling the shifter toward them and back into 2nd, at a "diagonal", etc.

You have to make it a slower shift. It's important to get the clutch in faster, and let things spin down so you can get it in gear.

The word is that all new models will not be accepted unless they weigh between 250-750 lbs lighter than the model they replace. Knowing Alan Mulally we can live by that word, so you can expect the next gen Mustang to have a maximum weight around 3,350 in GT Coupe form.

Yep. Don't force it. It's not a race transmission.

We will see. If so, and it has IRS, I will be totally impressed. However, Ford will be about a decade late designing what amounts to a C6 corvette, lol

The problem is if Ford does not invest $$$ in an IRS and uses an updated version of the 03-04 cobra it will suck. I replaced the IRS in my 03 Cobra with a live rear torque arm and panhard bar.

PS I hate the way my 11 GT shifts,I have a Steeda shifter here but need to find time to install it. It does not feel as good as the T56 in mu old cobra but it is smoother and very quiet. I hate to say this but I love a normal T5. It was a great stock trans.

I heard of a lot of people doing that due to the crappy IRS. I do hope Ford puts together a solid system, or doesn't do it at all.

It's a new Ford, though, so I figure if they do it they will do it right.

As far as the transmission goes... look at that Barton shift bracket. Supposedly that makes a HUGE difference in feel over just the short shifter itself. I was going to get the Steeda shifter myself but I am going to wait and get the Barton + Barton bracket when it comes off back order.
