"too much" is subjective. the GTR is reasonable for the level of performance that you get out of it in return. if you are wanting a high performance car, for whatever reason, then the GTR is a steal. but if you are just looking for a daily driver then you may want to look elsewhere. it's a great driving car, it's super easy to drive, and comfortable on a daily basis but it can get pricey when you consider the cost of brake rotor replacement and tires every so often. as for the maintenance, DO take it to the dealership, they are the only people who have experience with them other than some of the sponsor shops on forums like this. joe-bob with an associates degree down at the local tire and lube (that's me by the way) shouldn't get within 10' of the car with any kind of tool to work on it. it is a highly sophisticated car and different from many cars that are out there. if you were to buy a 911 turbo for $150k you would take it to the dealership to get it worked on. the GTR provides the same level of performance and comfort for half the price so base it on that, not how expensive it is to keep up compared to a Z.
