I had one want to race me the other day in my Jeep SRT-8. He had an exhaust and no telling what else. Well it wasnt enough. From a 60 roll I walked off and left him. I have to say I was really dissapointed. My Jeep is stock and weighs more... and is built to run from a dead stop. The problem with Mustangs are weight distribution and they are WAY too heavy. I would never consider buying one.... because there are already way too many of them out there.

What does your Jeep run in the 1/4? That sounds interesting to me. You sure it wasn't a 4.6?

They aren't all that heavy compared to similar cars and the weight distribution is pretty damn close to 50/50... FWIW I run 12.87 @ 110 stock.

Edit: Checked the specs on the SRT-8. Definitely BS. You've got at least 1,000 lbs on the 3600 lb 5.0, and only 8 hp more. That was a funny joke!

It had 5.0 badges on it. I will admit Mustang drivers are like rivers, they do really cool things sometimes to make them faster by debadging their cars or even adding new badges to them. So whatever. I know what happened and will be looking forward to racing another. I'm sure the results will be different this time though since after only a few days this thread has 64 pages of crap about the Mustang. You guys are really sweating the Mustang. From what I have seen from the 370z it's obvious why.

One more thing to mention is not everyone can drive a car. Maybe some of you and the Mustang owner need to take a few driving schools. You can have a much faster car but if you can't shift your going to loose. Enjoy the rest of your thread ladies.

Awww did your ego get hurt when people realised your ********?

your truck cant beat a 5.0 simple as that. well I guess it can win if the mustang driver stalls.

I can also go "HOLY **** I BEAT A GT-R" and it turned out the guy was hitting the brake instead of the throttle.

From a 60 roll, if you're Jeep walked away, the Mustang was probably either in neutral or not hitting the gas. Having driven the Jeep, and knowing it's a car with a sub 5 second 0-60, but barely traps over 100 mph, you've got nothing in a highway pull.

Considering a highway pull in the 5.0 consists of dropping a gear or two, walking away, and reverting to normal, I don't think driving is gonna be much of a factor. From a dig, sure. Not from a roll though.

But, while we are telling stories, I thought you'd like to hear about the E46 M3 I smoked while driving my EJ8. It's a riveting tale, and almost as believable.

Its ok kids. I did not need a driving school for the Jeep. My mom can get in it and blow your little 370s off the road... in all fairness she drives a C6 daily so shes not quiet an amateur driver. But that is my point. Anyone can drive the Jeep fast. Its all wheel drive and pulls well. I had an 04 Viper before I got the Jeep and it was a different story. Thats why I took the driving schools to learn how to drive the car. Eve with the school I could launch much harder in my Jeep than the Viper... traction and gearing made the difference.

Most people (especially kids.... and by some of the childish comments in here I can see some of you are) buy a car that is too much for them to handle. They think they know everything because they read car magazines. Well I run into poor drivers all the time and usually beat them because they cant drive what they have. Just because a magazine gets a time and trap speed on a car doesnt mean its going to run it everytime. Those are professional drivers and get numerous runs on the car to get those times. Real world driving is a different story. There are exceptions... I chatted with a guy who was getting high 10 second runs in a Gen III Viper. I didnt beleive it because the best times I had seen where in the upper 11's. Well he actually was getting it consistently because he was an exceptional driver adn is widely known throughout the Viper and Corvette community (he owns Vettes also).

My point is just because you have the car doesnt mean you can get the performance out of it. Obviously this Mustang owner didnt because I did pull on him... not saying I m a better driver or have a faster ride but I did. Wether you choose to believe it I really could not care. I do think its funny though that you guys are ragging on Chrysler though all while your in here defending Ford... both American made and you all drive Nissans. LMAO! Kids these days...

Default Angeles City

part of the equation is how much wear and tear you are willing to put

on your car.

We raced sidecar motorcycles for hire back in the day.The big prize didn't

go to the newest fastest vehicle, but instead to the guy willing to go for it

no matter the potential damage.

My Z is a DD, so ....

HTP:
Last time I checked, the overall build quality on Ford's vehicles were better than Chrysler and Ford didn't need a bailout from the US Government like Chrysler.

This kid with a 7AT 370Z can probably stay relatively close to your Jeep in a 1/4 mile. Throw a curve in the road and I might have you. How do you expect anyone (including us kids) to learn to drive a higher performance vehicle without buying one? I'm not gonna learn to handle a 370Z or any other high performance vehicle by being able to handle a 6mt civic or something.
