lol what a funny read! but i still dont know what all the fuss is about, Am damn happy ford stepped it up with the new 5.0, because let be 100% honest here, before the 5.0 mustangs were basically jokes! With exception of some old school ones and the higher end ones with the hefty price, but other than that everything in between has been garbage. Whats funny to me is that since it has been coming out, mag times have gotten slower and slower since that holy grailed 12.7 by motor trend. theres rumors all over that ford worked with motortrend to help with sales by boosting the number...but like I said, key word: rumors...

You can't go by rag times. Look at what the actual owners are running. I'm sure Modshack and Tin can chime in on those times.

The same thing can be said of the 370. Motor Trend was the only mag to get that 4.6/4.7 0-60 and 13.1 quarter... Everyone else is in the 5.0 second or higher 0-60 range.

^ yeah very true about mag times, but i only say that because thats what allot of people are basing thier assumptions on what are owners on avaerage getting btw?!

Why not just swap in the 5.0 in the z, the you would have the best of both worlds......

I think it might be too wide to fit. If I had the time/money that'd definitely be something I would look into, though. That engine in this car would be awesome.

I would just do the new V8 Nissan has created, might not be putting down exactly the same numbers but this way you stay with Nissan and get a V8.

i think somebody might try this eventually

why not just use the v8 from the m56? it's still a nissan and will probably have less compatibility issues with the car. actually, why not just pt the vr38dett engine from a gt-r? i would have thought by now some adventurous pioneer would have tried that already, but apparently not.

Well, batter up! :D

If I had loads of money to dump into this, even then it would be waiting until my warranty expired.

We've talked about the m56 a few times and it could be a good option. Ultimately its personal preference and more importantly fitment. I know the LSX motors will fit in the 350s but not sure if these bigger OHC v8s will fit.

As far as the vr38... that becomes pretty damn expensive, and, well, if you want a v8 its obviously not on the list. Anyone have an idea what a crate vr38dett runs? I'm guessing an arm and a leg.

Actually being almost 300 lbs. lighter (maybe down to 200 if they go bigger block), it only needs about 370 or 380. That will match the 'stang in raw acceleration and it will still out handle it, once again making it the undisputed champ in it's price range.

That may be, but 400+ is a much nicer number.

well, the gtr transmission alone costs 20k, so the engine you can guess will be about 35-40k or so, right? by the time you factor in the cost of all the extra parts and the fees for the mechanics who will do the fitment, i'll be much cheaper just to trade in the z for a gtr. of course, these custom projects are never about good value for the money but more about innovation and creativity and pushing the boundaries of what can be done
