2011 Mustang 5.0 Turbo
|
Nice...
This video is funny so far: YouTube - Fastlane tears down the 2011 Ford 5.0L Mustang Motor Oil squirters and an oil hole in the rod small end... who'd a thunk it!? I swear, domestic engine building is just NOW catching up to what the Japanese did 20 years ago for factory turbo cars. |
I am very close to upgrading.
|
Boring.........;)

Funny thing is Fastlane is down the road from me, maybe I should stop by.

All I can say is damnit for being a finance and accounting guy. I can't justify what I want to do... lol. |
Good luck guys. lol

If Pharmacist stays out of this thread it will go on just fine.
|
Yea, now that you bring it up that derailed the last one right?
|
Yes.

The mustang gt is aweosme and all...wait correction the NEW 5.0 GT is awesome and all but if you slap turbo on the 370 its just as bad! The new gt is ideal for NA route but FI levels out the playing field for almost anycar. So what is it that makes you want to get a 5.0 when you already a 370z? Looks?? Sticking with NA? Am just curious because the 370 is one bad mofo, a trade just doesnt seem justifiable, financially or any other way...?!

2. The 2011 chassis and 5 liter is a ridiculous platform right off the showroom floor. N/A or FI, it's going to kill. If I bought one I'd be pushing 500whp and 500lb-ft or more with a low-psi supercharger. 3. I think it looks awesome and everything about it is just as good or better than the Z. That said, the Z is an awesome car and a great platform in and of itself. As diehard a Ford guy as I am, I find it very hard to part with this car. The fact of the matter is I want both... and since that's not financially feasible or practical in any way (I'm buying a Pathfinder as Car #2 later this year) I think the best option is to keep the Z. Financially it doesn't make any sense to get out of this car and into the Mustang. I'd essentially be starting all over again with payments on the Z. Nothing I can't handle, it's just as a finance and accounting guy it screams "bad idea" to me. So alas, the Z stays, and the Z will be supercharged eventually. I will continue to admire the new Mustang and I'll test drive them once a month like I have been doing (:excited:), and maybe when the day comes I'll pick up a used 5.0 for my third car. |

******* derailing my thread
|
Love the 5.0 Mustang. It's a fire breathing beast.
I love the Z for similar reasons, and it's my beast. This is a pretty great time to be alive if you're a car enthusiast. The only thing that sucks is how fat/bloated some of the muscle cars are. But every segment right now has performance models. |

Compare it to cars in it's class and it's a true lightweight. The Camaro comes in around 3800lbs and the Challenger tips the scales at over 4000. To put things into perspective, a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano weighs about 3800 lbs! |

My problem with larger vehicles is the idea that moar wait = saif tea. While it's true that the bigger car wins in a collision (thank you physics), it is also true that a lighter vehicle tends to be more maneuverable, easier to stop/accelerate, and therefore more likely to avoid the accident in the first place (the part of physics that NHTSA guys skimmed). That's the crux of my usual rant. |

Plus the continuous bloating gives diminishing returns. Don't buy a 5-star rated minivan from 1997 and expect it to be safe. If it smacks into the same minivan from 2005, it's the accordion, while the 2005 model which is much heavier survives less scathed. But this is all drifting off topic. |

4 seater honda civics are pretty light no? granted they have 4 cyl engines, but an aluminum block V8 shouldnt stack too much more onto the weight right?
|
Yes they are light, but they are also compact cars, so compared to a Mustang they are tiny.
Like I said before the Mustang is a lightweight compared to cars of its size. |

Although, I love a good light roadster like a Miata or an Elise. Light weight, small 4 banger. It's not a drag strip star, but it'll tear up corners. And the MS3 is pretty nice for a 4-door grocery hauler. It's a compact, but it's brutal fun. |
I'm thinkin Toyota Corolla with a 5.0 swap. :icon14:

The Mustang is definitely really light for its segment, but not the lightest on the road. Early reports say Ford engineers are going with the "less is more" approach with the next gen. Mustang to lower the weight. |
