It's great you won't have to jump to a GTS to get the best version of the 911 body. But I think the $100,000 plus sports car segment is getting more competitive. Porsche might want to feature more standard features in Its cars as well. The performance gap between Porsche and other cars has narrowed. This next gen car looks more like a refresh (991.3) than an actual 992.

Can't wait for the next gen reviews.

Yeah, but without the ability to up-sell, Porsche wouldn't know what to do.
Most of them are like that once you get into cars priced into the stratosphere.
The higher the base price, the more extravagant the options (and their cost).
The a-la-carte menu for Bentley and Lamborghini include interior colours to match your wife's nail polish, if you have the cash. ;-)

The GT3 finally got a manual. They've given the GT3 so many configurations. It's crazy. Too bad all the love goes into 100k plus cars. But the truth is. The rich don't whine and complain about cup holders and gas mileage on sports cars. The broke do. I'm sure this is probably why the sub premium car brands are hesitant to put out a sports car.

I'm just thinking about year one on this forum and all the stupid complaints about the Z.

It should have a more practical 2+2 option

It should get better gas mileage.

It should have a v8 option

It should get 30mpg

It should have better designed cup holder. And should have 2.

These things are truly irrelevant to a sports car.

I had one peevy complaint. I felt for its starting price and lack of features. The touring pkg standard no we system should have been in the base car. The option should have been nav. Not bose. But that was an analysis based on cost of vehicle.

Anyway. The point is. Companies like Nissan are trying to make an affordable sports car to a crowd that worries about gas mileage and practicality. It's easier for them to push crossovers with a magic suspension than an actual sports car. The millennial male enthusiast where's panties while the wife has the draws with **** holes in em. So he wants a sports crossover not a sports car. Men with cash act like men. So men with cash get sports cars.

That's why Porsche is adding manuals to models while the middle class are losing them.

Buying a Porsche is just becoming an experiment in how many rich people are actually drones. Engineering and quality to cost effort has faded. At this money. You can get into more interesting vehicles like a GTS, McLaren or a ZR1 that provide a more visceral experience.

Any 911 with a spec of decent options has been expensive for some years now. They are highly personal decisions at that price level as to what 'experience' a buyer/driver wants. Not all at that level need visceral. How a buyer see's themselves with relation to the car matters.

The understated appearance with performance does appeal well with Porsche. Those desiring more visceral can opt for GT3/GT3-RS or GT2 etc.

Many owners of other 'exotics' are Porsche owners as well.
