Default BMW M240i xDrive vs Audi TT RS

Since Toyota is being cagey about the Supra/FT-1 and I have to get a new daily driver, it looks like I am down to two options; either the BMW M240i xDrive or Audi TT RS.

The parameters for my purchase are:
My only car (i.e. it is a daily driver even in the winter, AWD)
Needs to be fun
Probably will never be tracked
Needs to look good
Reliability
Leased (to determine if it is worth buying later)

Between these two cars, which would you go for and why?
Any experience with either?

I have no real experience with either other than test driving the m. I bought my an Audi rs5 and really like the rs. If you want a fun two seater sportscar the new Audi is a nice ride imho.

Which dealership is closer, and which one gives the better loaner car when the damn thing is in the shop again?

Lol, that is funny and I would agree. We got an Audi A3 when they did warranty work on S5. My wife was not happy because she wanted something equivalent or better. I said at least it wasn't a Camary or lesser vehicle.

I have seen and read a lot of good reviews about the TT RS, and no mods needed for speed up here in the high altitude. I don't like the looks of it in pictures, but like most cars it looks great on the road.

What do you think about reliability?

I definitely have not considered an Audi, but recently they are getting high marks by Consumer Reports. Is that a source that can be believed?

Reliability is definitely a concern with the BMW though.

I don't know yet as we have only had our S5 since June, that being said what I have read has been good. The other thing is if you are going to lease one it will be under warranty for the time of the lease and their warranty is pretty outstanding. If you get the upgraded plan, it even includes some consumables like brake pads, rotors and fluid. It is expensive but you don't got to worry about anything lol!

I like the TT-RS and RS3 as they have some of Audi heritage with that Inline 5 engine and quattro combo. I personally am considering changing my SRT next year with RS3 as I want something smaller as DD (actually it is one of the options I am considering).

You need to test drive both, I think TTRS will be stiffer than M240i, and you need to see if you want your daily to be as stiff as the rs, I have a friend who test drove S3 and RS3 back to back and ended with S3 as he wanted something more comfy for dd.

If you get a TT you will start singing show tunes, care about your hair products, and have to come up with some clever use of TT in a screen name or license plate. If you want a real sports car get a used 911, a 997.1 or 997.2. For the price of a new TTRS you can get a nice 997.2 4S CPO. If you can find one.

TTRS is a nice overall performance package. AWD flexibility. Its very much a 'real' sportscar. If one comes here where you can actually enjoy the power and not only be on the track you would be impressed. There are always used options of other makes. But life is short and you should get what works for you no matter what is stated here.

The BMW will offer some interior space that can be accessible and useful for longer trips etc. The M235i I have and the M2 have done well and I have over 80000kms on my M235i with no issues or repairs, just usual scheduled maintenance. Both are driven daily.

Audi has significant experience with the 5cyl configuration. I had a new S3 over the summer to enjoy via a friend and the Audi dash display and functionality is impressive.

I would think you would be pleased with either one.

I tried to talk my wife into buying an M235i but she wanted something bigger and she knew I would want to track it from time to time lol. It is a really nice car for a four seater!

First off, I am speaking of the TT RS, and as I stated in the original post, I am looking for an AWD daily driver.

The other day I saw a C7 Grand Sport next to a TT S, and surprisingly the TT S looked more menacing. It reminds me of a .45 ACP bullet for some reason. The TT RS IS a beast.

The C4S is AWD, and its much better than the haldex system on the TTRS.

I would bet my house that a gently used late model Porsche is exponentially less of a hassle to own than a new Audi.
