Is Maxima a sports car ?

* THIS IS NOT A VS THREAD !!

Nissan says its Maxima is a 4DSC - four door sports car.

Personally I like it and want to own one, but sometimes I see some other articles which disagree to that.

How do you think about its true category?

It's not going to be in the same class as say an m3 or similar but it is a damn nice car. My dad has the 2016 sr and I like it quiet a bit. It may be a cvt but it drives nice and picks up speed quicker than you think, body is nice and rigid, the adaptive suspension feels balanced and not overly understeer even for front drive, interior and styling is gorgeous. Even if it is a Nissan sponsored test there is a test with it vs similar cars, even a rear drive BMW at button willow race track and it won quiet convincingly.

I say test drive one and get a feel for yourself.

Not a sports car at all, garbage
I'm on Maxima 2, never again. The CVT is ok to drive, but this one will need a replacement soon. God forbid you're out of warranty...

It's kinda quick for a boat, but JEEEEEZUS Nissan must be using the springs and struts off a Sentra... Rear sags like a mofo with 200lbs in the rear, and if you go over any bump, that áss goes up and down like the struts are shot, even though they're fine...

Oh, about the quickness. The Maxima only allows for 80% throttle 0-40, then 100% 40-80, and over 80MPH, you go back to 80% throttle, to help save the "CVT BOOM"... The Maxima guys tune it to give 100% all the time and damn it makes it an actual "quick" car, but then tranny life goes to shít.

I'm very anti-Nissan now, moreso against the Maxima, it's like the Lexus ES, they really haven't changed the underpinnings in 10-ish years, too bad Nissan doesn't learn from their mistakes in previous gens, they change the body, leave almost everything else the same

WRX STI is a true 4DSC

Maximas are for middle aged men who couldn't quite make it in life to own a Q50S.

kenchan 07-24-2016 05:44 AM

Honestly ure better off with the new murano

Chuck33079 07-24-2016 07:33 AM

Fwd and cvt? Not a sports car.

JC-Nismo 07-24-2016 08:04 AM

Dude, never ask for anyone's opinion on here, buy what you like.

Same class as top of line Camry and Accord Sport. Not a sports car. The 4DSC designation is just a marketing gimmick to separate it from the Altima.

Interior looks nice, but loaded this car ain't cheap, new or used. You have plenty of other choices if you want a real 4DSC.

4DSC has been the marketing theme for the Maxima since the early 90's. IMHO it looks better than the infiniti q50

ChopsZ 07-24-2016 11:24 AM

Short answer... No.

Z-Girl 12 07-24-2016 11:34 AM

Infiniti Q gets my vote.. after optioning out too much for a maxima.

ChaseZ 07-24-2016 11:37 AM

How is this even a question..?

MagmaRed370z 07-24-2016 12:55 PM

I have to admit that the interior is very nice. Makes our Interior of our Zs look ancient. But it's definitely NOT a 4DSC, definitely not with FWD and CVT.

Get a Q50s

Use the search box.... There's already a thread on this.
