Sports car? No. But if I was in the market for a fwd, family sedan this is on my short list. Compared to the Camry/Accord/Altima, this is a better option in my opinion.

I've driven quite a few 8th gens and they are comfy cruisers. The CVT is much better than previous gens too (but I still prefer a geared trans)

Test drove it prior to getting the G. It just felt too boat like. Mushy suspension, cvt, fwd, fail. Even the g37x (awd) felt awfully soft. It wasn't until I drove an actual S model that the G became a real contender.

Too old to be in a wrx. The sti needs a significant update. DI engine, better mpg.

Hell NO!

Too many manufacturers are getting away with calling some of their vehicles "sports cars".

4 dour sports car is bordering on an oxymoron. The M3 is a sports sedan even in the 2 door configuration. The Maxima is a sedan plain and simple. Idk if I would even call it a sporty sedan either. It's FWD, no manual trans option, no turbo/faster engine setup makes for a pretty generic sedan IMHO.

Drove my Mom's '11 to South Carolina on a trip last year. 750 miles each way, and I knew I couldn't take the Z for that long (plus 2 people's luggage for a week). It actually did pretty well in the mountains. I probably wouldn't have pushed the Z much harder.
She has a whopping 6K miles on it.
I do like the new Platinum. Sharp car especially in light colors.

I have no illusion that my G37 is a 4DSC even though It's based upon the same platform as the Z34. Not only "No" for the Maxima, but "Hell no".

Wait for the Mazda 6 Turbo...

Exactly this.

I don't think the average Maxima buyer even knows what 4DSC means...

But Honda Civic R is also a FWD, and it ridiculously beats many of its competitors.

Nissan's JATCO has the world-best technology for their CVTs.

You still think Maxima isn't a sports car though ?? :D

Same class as top of line Camry and Accord Sport. Not a sports car. The 4DSC designation is just a marketing gimmick to separate it from the Altima.

Interior looks nice, but loaded this car ain't cheap, new or used. You have plenty of other choices if you want a real 4DSC.

Not nearly in the same class as an Accord Sport or Camry that segment is for the Altima of various trims to handle, Accord sport is a stripper 4cyl Accord with bigger rims and dual exhaust. Maxima's interior and interior quality is ions better than those cars. The Max is much more sporty alternative to an Avalon, Impala, Cadenza and just so happen if you like it better than the TLX V6 (good competitor) or the Q50, and its not a car where you see 5 or 6 at every stop light or 20 in every parking lot out of 50 cars like some of the mentioned above!:driving:

cv129 07-26-2016 08:52 PM

No offense, but Maxima isn't close to being a Civic R. And it can be the best CVT, still a CVT.

People (including members here) yawn at Q50s. You shouldn't be surprise that nobody here is buying into that 4DSC slogan.

It's a Camry XSE /Accord EX-L that has a distinguished look. It's plenty comfortable and interior is handsome. But that's where the story ends bud.

You can keep it.

Having the best CVT is like being the tallest midget in the room.
