My new daily driver HYPERBLUE
Well this past weekend I went to go pick up my new 2016 WRX STI hyperblue edition for my daily driver. This car is amazing, handles well, different from the z for sure and the color looks amazing in person. I still have my z and will continue to mod and save up for twin turbo.

beautiful sti, WR blue was my second option! |
thanks guyz! i was debating on wrx premium and sti. I've always wanted an sti since 04. the new WRX has the better motor and is lighter but couldnt resist the hyperblue edition.
|
Tune that thing asap. The factory tune is dangerously bad. Downpipe, tune and sways and you'll be amazed how much fun it is to drive.
|
Congrats looks awesome.
|
thanks! yeah def going stage 2 with tune soon!

haha funny I stumble into this, we almost bought an Audi SQ5 slightly used today but the wife sorta chickened out on me and we didnt buy it. Decided to save some money and took a test drive of the wrx. I am very happy with it as I need a 4 door for a future baby we are about to have in 2 months. I have seen one of those sweet blue cars in town once, my wife calls it a Smurf color and even though I think its a fun eye catching color, I will probably buy the WR blue instead as I love that color. Was the Hyperblue more expensive than the regular color?
|
haha my coworker told me its a smurf color as well. Price was a little higher since its a hyperblue edition. I was able to get $500 off MSRP and dealer would not budge. All of central tx did not have a hyperblue edition so I had to drive up to fort worth/dallas to pick one up. the wrx has a really good safety rating, a lot more comfortable, easier to drive in corners and instant power from a stop position. I think this car would do just fine as a daily/family care.

MSRP $41500 TTL depends on state but a few grand

Oh did you have to special order this color or was it just sitting on the lot? Rumor has it Subaru intends to swap the engine for the '17 and will announce it at the NY Auto show in late March. I was about to pull the trigger on ordering a WR blue one when I found out this info. Dealers arent saying anything but its pretty solid rumors from many sources. I have decided to hold off until March and see for sure if thats true before I order! Thanks for the info:)
|
only 700 were made in this color and found one in forth wort/dallas area. I know the new wrx are running the new 2.0l engines but the sti is still running the old 2.5l engine. So i can see them transitioning to the new 2.0L engines. I couldnt wait for the newer sti so decided to get this special edition one. plus im leasing just in case i dont like the car 2-3 yrs from now

joined the group today. :icon17:
2016 STI with nav, hk, sti short shifter and knob, carpet and a/s floor mats, and some other stuff. paid cash. my G and Z are still with me, and my Fit will be sold soon. i have a set of husky mats coming in so will replace at least the driver one. :D http://www.the370z.com/members/kench...e91165-sti.jpg |

Did you get the Limited edition with the full leather or the regular version? |
Mine is the base STI with the nav/hk package. :)
Considering the JDM STI's are running the DI engines I bet it's only a matter of time. The old 2.5L is okay for me though! |

I love the STI ***, just saying! :) I found this gem over in Melbourne, FL, only one in the state! Rare color I guess? Hurry up '17 models!!!

..about the nav... i couldn't see myself buying a flagship model without nav and the hk stereo, keyless/push button start especially for a dd. i didnt want the weight of the glass on the roof and i preferred the base STI's wheels so i went with this trim. it's all personal preference though. :) |
all you newbie subie drivers and i'm just here with 80k on my 2011 wrx :p

my wife even said that the wing didnt bother her. it looks natural on the car and would look too bland without it. :D |

If you don't have a wing on the car, then its not an STI or an Evo. I am sorry, I just think those are the plain Jane models. My wife thinks the car is ugly but because were having a baby in April, and its going to be my car, she doesn't care. Not like she can drive a stick anyhow!
|
yah, i can see this being an EXCELLENT dd especially with babies and kids. the doors open very wide for easy access... and plenty of room in the back seat area and trunk.
btw, I installed my Husky brand all season floor mats on the driver and passenger front this am while putting my battery manager on the car. :D mats fit perfectly and the coverage is MUCH better than the factory all season mats. i have the husky rear mats too, but since the floor under the factory all season mats was already lightly soiled, i decided ill just use the rears next winter and tell my kids not to step on the center carpet hump. they're use to dat hump on my G coupe, so no issue. :D i still prefer running carpet mats in the summer though. if you're interested: Husky 99801 |
do u guys know if the Enkei TS10 clears the STI bbk?
if i cant find a mint factory set, might get a set of these with snows mounted later this year if they clear. they come in 18x8.5 ET50 so fairly close to stock. - NEW – TS-10 | Enkei Wheels |

yah, im still in intelligent mode just taking it easy for now. :icon17: |
I was going to look into that big company you see on TV alot that makes the mats and put some in my Z even though its more of a Garage queen anyhow as I ride my sport bike and drive my older Honda more. As we dont get snow here in Florida....usually, I shouldnt have to worry about any of that junk. I am more worried about kids trashing the back or spilling things in it!

were talking babies, they dont know any different. And you KNOW mom will try to feed him when were going places whether I say no or not! lol
|
like i said, i speak from experience. :icon17:
sure they might throw up on themselves and child seats, etc but it doesnt explode out like EW after eating tacohell.. :ugh: honestly there was not once where i had to clean up the actual car. :) child seat covers are machine washable. |

Here's some nostalgia for your wing!! :rofl2: I guess it gives a non aspirated engine better performance?:bowrofl: https://youtu.be/4SG5kQQMJBE |
think im going to order up some prodrives. :D
i always keep at least 2 sets of wheels with tires at all times per car, so nothing less for the STI. not sure which tires to wrap yet though.. |
But the wing comes stock, not a aftermarket wing like Amuse for the 370z! Wings are fun if they are right:) Besides, you drive down any street with a WRX and a wing and everyone goes STI!!! Right away:)
