FORD FOCUS RS $42,000 w/manual only tranny!
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vWgOy-Ed7e...ree-Door-0.jpg
http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopo...d-focus-rs.JPG Here's my question. Would a car like the focus RS be worth $42,000 loaded with just a manual? This is where Mitsubishi justifies it's $44,000 loaded price tag. The Cost of the EVO X transmission is $17,000. A LOADED GSR is about 36k as well as a manual STI. If you ask me? The base price of the focus RS is $37k. That's about right for the loaded car. At the end of the day. HP in these type cars is a tuneable number. And I'd this is the new standard in pricing for hot hatches? Then Mercedes Benz, stop holding out. Because the only hatch I'd shell more than $40k for. Shyt I'd even pay $50k for is the Mercedes A45amg. Real DCT, proven AWD system, an interior that has almost no competition. A 371hp 2.0 engine with the wickedest exhaust note. http://www.showlove.co.za/wp-content...s-august-3.jpg http://www.showlove.co.za/wp-content...s-august-5.jpg |
Nooooo. Love the specs, but I'm in late 30's. A grown *** man can't be driving that boy racer thing. Look at it!! Lol.
|
|
Depends on how the interior turns out.
|
It looks like an st interior and
|
Would never pay 40k for that hocus focus Ford pos lmao.
|

at least with the frs/brz you get that nostalgic feel for them 50-something folks remembering how it was back then.
but a focus? wat nostalgia feel do you get? bad news? ford pinto? :ugh: nightmares? LOL's? :ugh2: i cant see myself in any of these boyracer hatches. si-r included. |
42k for a focus....no....especally considering the a base model GT350 is at 48k
|
I would wait and see if Mazda brings out a Mazdaspeed3 I had 04 Mazda 3 hatchback 5speed manual and loved it.

[QUOTE=Firebase99;3275210]Yea with that price tag they are looking at my demographic. Yea I could buy one. Would I? No never. In the forties? You kidding? Rich debutant kids and the tiny "don't know any better my age". Naaaaa. It's what has kept me out of a GT or STI last
I know I know:shakes head: but what else is there???? 42k is my limit. I want 4drs and fun...Q50 too soft don't wanna go back to that. PM me if you have suggestions. Thanks!!! OP sorry for thread jacking. :tiphat: |
I'd pay under 40 for a Focus RS...as long as it's white or black....not "arrest me immediately" green
|
Seems like so far... Ford is going to have to put some serious incentives on the Focus RS to sell them. Like I stated before. $37k loaded seems like a fair asking price. $42k? Laughable.
Just like the mustang ecoboost. It's fully loaded it's $38,000. Another car running about $5k over it's worth. These cars are from domestic companies. The foreigners seem to give better pricing considering they put out higher luxury, rivaled performance and they actually have to deal with shipping costs and import tax. Smh. |
I would say ford is killing it right now .. At least way more options than Japanese companies for enthusiasts. Nissan used to be the best bang for your buck , now it's easily ford .
|
I like that green

That wing dude!! "Whoa!!! Wing...wing, wing wing." I cant get over it. And the interior needs to be better. 2 things that are a deal breaker. Edit: It is a sweet ride though. i DO LOVE the looks except for those two issues. |
For a few gran more one can get a chevy SS with a v8 (6.2L) engine, 6spd manual. Might not as handle as well as the RS but still good for it's size/weight. Plus it's a sleeper car, most folks will just think it's a malibu.

40k
ford lol |
Just looks like a lot of lipstick on a pig to me. But then again I never understood the point of gussying up econo sh!t boxes. Why anybody would spend a dime over the base cost on a focus, caliber, neon, cobalt, mazda 3 etc makes no sense. It's still just an econo sh!t box with no historical racing lineage or cult classic predecessor. The whole point of the car was to be cheap and replaceable. At the $40k plus price point there's a lot better options, especially on the used market. C6 Z06, 996 911 turbo, cayman s/boxster, E92 M3 are just off the top of my head. They can all easily be found under $45k with manual trans and low mileage. Not to mention the domestic muscle car offerings that at least have some history or feeling to them. The focus rs/st/sv or whatever the crap letter badges they want to slap on these piles of garbage are generic, forgettable economy sedans for the masses. Nothing to see here.

I actually was pretty excited about the Focus RS til I saw this. 42k? I'm good.
|
True you can get the others mentioned used, but no warrenty with them either.
42 k is a bit high, but until I see what that gets I reserve judgement. Chances are that includes options I would not want |

Edit - Yep - The Focus RS WRC was in competition from 1999 to 2010, winning 44 world rallies and two manufacturers' world titles (2006 and 2007). (Per wiki) |
Def want to test this. Would I buy it new? Probably not but this will or should be a fun AWD road rocket. Glad we have new machines to check out. I give Ford credit for putting this out on the market.
|
If they keep the weight reasonable this thing will be a monster when tuned.
|
I'm glad the focus is here as well. But reality is, cars have gone from being $3,000 overpriced in 2008. To $5,000 overpriced in 2016. There's nothing revolutionary about turbocharging. It's like they are tagging the aftermarket price difference on a factory car. It's just totally unreasonable pricing. I'd rather float on a base Benz at that price. They're turbocharged too and with $4,000. I'll surpass the focus and look grown up.
A CLA45 AMG & GLA45AMG is 50K at base. Yeah, Ford ****** up pricing. But I appreciate the cars existence. |
The Merc base is just that, add anything and your up to 60k. Plus I hate that glued on display that looks like a flat tumor on the dash. I could never live with that carbuncle staring at me.
|
I thought Ford's leaked site showed a price tag of $36k?
That Merc looks amazing though... damn. Neither of $40k amazing though. Maybe $24-33k. |
