Official 2016 Ford Focus RS Pricing, Performance Estimates Released!

The focus will actually start at about $35,700, reported by FLD and when you add seat it will be about $36,600. Reported by C&D.
If in real life it can be had for $40K even loaded. It will be a good buy. It has Mustang GT performance numbers.
I'd rather buy a CLA or GLA AMG. But it's not a bad car now that I see all the features. Considering a CLA has a DCT and starts at $48,000 the dct alone justifies $for $12,000 of the price tag. I'd have to say my quality is worth saving the extra coin and going Benz... But I am not gonna knock the focus. Not bad...

There is absolutely merit in wanting to go that extra 10-20% in price for something that will feel like a complete performance car with all the refinements of a luxury car like the CLA AMG. I can attest to all the little things that add up in my Q50S coming from my Z as far as all of the interior amenities and creature comforts as well as the sporty handling that is also very refined over crappy roads. I can't imagine how much I would love my Q50 if it matched the CLA AMG's performance.

However, there are people that don't care about those things, and the Focus RS will be a fantastic car for them. I have realized after having my Q50 for a couple months that luxury sport really is my jam. I never thought I was that guy until I spent some time to experience it for myself (and could actually afford it unlike previous car buying opportunities).

While I couldn't justify spending that much on a performance Ford Focus, I'll bet many focus and focus ST enthusiasts will justify this upgrade. I equate this as Ford's version of the STI.

I'd say that's pretty accurate, and they are probably trying to steal customers away from each other.

Focus = Impreza
Focus ST = WRX
Focus RS = STI

$36,000 and more fun to drive than the nismo 370z that is sitting at my local dealer for $46,000 for months now what a joke Nissan is now.

Ford is killing it .

Always turns into pricing battles. :ugh2:

In the hot hatch segment, my top pick would be a VW Golf GTI or R.

No, it is not guaranteed.

It's front-biased AWD with electronic power steering, probably has significant turbo lag, and only has good driving dynamics because of the stability control programming.

If that's your idea of fun driving, maybe get yourself an XBOX instead.
