it made Forbes "cars to avoid" list

and JD power gives it a 2.5 star rating for dependability:

you really can't go wrong with Subies. I like the new Crosstrek, the only downside is that it doesn't have a lot of power.
I think whatever i get right now i will be leasing so i am not too worried about reliability since it would be under warranty for the entire life of me owning the vehicle

Not true at all. They've switched to a much more fuel efficient engine.

I get 20-25 in mine on the highway, and 20 around town. That said, I'd probably look elsewhere for towing. 3500 limit with tow package.

A Civic SI could easily tow a 700 lbs jet ski/300 lbs trailer combo. Here in Texas everyone has trucks but I hate them. I just put hitches on my cars and have a small utility trailer. I've towed this trailer with my last three cars (12 Accord, 14 Accord, 15 Mustang).

Towing is one of those things where your needs tend to grow over time.

You can definitely tow with a smaller car. It will be more enjoyable with a bigger, more tow-ready vehicle, especially if you're towing frequently.
