This past weekend, I worked on a good friends jimmy. He completely blew his stock speakers. So I felt like I had to replace them.
Installed Kenwood head unit Focal polyglass speakers metra axxess Future: infinity amp rear speakers Sub Lets get started http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1043.jpg Before http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1044.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1045.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1046.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1047.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1054.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1059.jpg During Wiring http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1048.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1049.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1051.jpg |

I actually switched the tweeter mounting brackets. The left went to the right and right went to the left. This allowed the tweeters to be aimed just a tad of axis. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1056.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1057.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1058.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1055.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1060.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1061.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1062.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_1063.jpg |
Today was a simple sub and amp integration into the factory system of a VW R32.

Subaru Legacy Rebuild
Long story short, the customer contacted me about a year ago to correct what other shops had done. After fixing those issues the customer constantly changed either amps or speakers every month or so.
So this is a complete gut and rebuild. Everything is being taken out and re ran or replaced. The amps will both be on a amp rack above the spare tire. The sub will now be centered in the trunk instead of to the side. Let's begin Tear down http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/Untitled.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0006.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0008.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0009.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0010.jpg Found this when I was pulling up the power wire :o http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0011.jpg They spliced into the power wire for the MS8 http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0012.jpg The goodies http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0013.jpg |
Today I setup the tweeter pods, and did the first layer of resin.
Made tweeter rings http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0014.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0015.jpg Glued into place http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0016.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0017.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0018.jpg First time doing the tweeter pods, so I did get some sag. Was not able to stretch it out. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0019.jpg |
New speakers installed
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0020.jpg Because the door panels have been taken off so many times; I replaced all the panel pins. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0021.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0022.jpg Power wire and speaker wire ran http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0023.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0024.jpg Other pillar wrapped http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0025.jpg |

Today I built and dry fitted the amp rack together. Going to have to build a new false floor as the amp rack comes to the height of the floor already.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0026.jpghttp://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0028.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0031.jpg |
Updated pics of the amp rack, aligned the amps and the holes. Going to be bolting them in with stainless steel bolts.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0038.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0039.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0041.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0042.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0043.jpg |
Test fitted the amp rack in the trunk. Perfect fit!
Now to start the false floor tomorrow and sub box. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0047.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0048.jpg |
I like the addition of the cooling fans. Looking good.

So today I got a lot done, most of the car is back together. Did get to test the woofers and sub however ran into a few problems including the sub box will not fit because of a seat belt in the way. So I will have to change the location to the left of the trunk and make a new beauty panel.
Working on the sub box. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0049.jpg All the old wires http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0050.jpg First layer of bondo http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0051.jpg Cut out http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0052.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0053.jpg All wires organized http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0054.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0055.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0056.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0057.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0058.jpg |

The final part was installed toda, the tweeters. I must say they were difficult considering they were my first set of tweeter pods. In the future I know what to do different.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0098.jpg Both installed http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...y/IMG_0099.jpg |
Hey do you know why my hazard lights are illuminated on my car when I turn it on? They wont shut off until I hit a blinker or click the hazard light button. The lights are not flashing but are illuminated. -- 2012 Nissan 370z sport package 6spd

battery in your keyless entry remote sounds like it is failing, despite it being a new car. I would bring it up with the dealer - esp since it's so new.

I agree with Equinox

Hey Matt I've been experiencing an issue since I installed my Rockford T2 components speakers. Whenever I accelerate there is a whine or high pitch sound coming from the right tweeter.
I heard it's some kind of alternator whine because my power cables might be close to the coaxial. I have my speakers directly to the HU and don't use any amps. It only happens when the car is running. But I Do have a power cable running behind my HU, do you think this is the problem? is there any other solution other than re-routing this cable? |

Worked on a 2005 G55 AMG, did a full paint correction and fixed a audio install as well.
The bad install http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0135.jpg They installed a 5.25 in place of a 6.5 opening, not even using a spacer ring. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0136.jpg Soldered the wires http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0137.jpg New speakers installed http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0138.jpg The same for the other side http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0139.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0140.jpg Clayed fallowed by swirl and haze remover, fine machine polish, and wax http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0144.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_0146.jpg |
Have you done any installs in the touring models that have BOSE? I see youv'e done several in base models but mine has BOSE and just wondering if it'll sound better/worse or the same using the stock speakers. Thanks

http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/4...bout-bose.html I have done 2 370z bose systems and a few in other cars. It is going to sound a little better with a new head unit however your not going to be able to power them from your head unit, you will have to let the bose amp do that. |

Tweeter Help
Hello, this should be a simple one for you: I would like to replace the stock tweeters in my 09 370Z. What do you recommend and do I retain the tweeter capacitors? I have listed what I have done so far. Thanks in advance, you are awesome!
