This past weekend, I worked on a good friends jimmy. He completely blew his stock speakers. So I felt like I had to replace them.

Installed
Kenwood head unit
Focal polyglass speakers
metra axxess

Future:
infinity amp
rear speakers
Sub

Lets get started

I actually switched the tweeter mounting brackets. The left went to the right and right went to the left. This allowed the tweeters to be aimed just a tad of axis.

Subaru Legacy Rebuild

Long story short, the customer contacted me about a year ago to correct what other shops had done. After fixing those issues the customer constantly changed either amps or speakers every month or so.

So this is a complete gut and rebuild. Everything is being taken out and re ran or replaced.

The amps will both be on a amp rack above the spare tire. The sub will now be centered in the trunk instead of to the side. Let's begin

Tear down

Bill, the reverse wire would be located in the rear of the car on the left side, there are usually 3 orange wires located in the harness, check for 12 volt with a volt meter on them while in reverse. That is the one you need. As far as the speed sensor sorry I am not much help as I have never connected them.

Today I built and dry fitted the amp rack together. Going to have to build a new false floor as the amp rack comes to the height of the floor already.

bigaudiofanat 05-19-2012 11:01 PM

So today I got a lot done, most of the car is back together. Did get to test the woofers and sub however ran into a few problems including the sub box will not fit because of a seat belt in the way. So I will have to change the location to the left of the trunk and make a new beauty panel.

Working on the sub box.

battery in your keyless entry remote sounds like it is failing, despite it being a new car. I would bring it up with the dealer - esp since it's so new.

Hey Matt I've been experiencing an issue since I installed my Rockford T2 components speakers. Whenever I accelerate there is a whine or high pitch sound coming from the right tweeter.

I heard it's some kind of alternator whine because my power cables might be close to the coaxial. I have my speakers directly to the HU and don't use any amps. It only happens when the car is running.

But I Do have a power cable running behind my HU, do you think this is the problem? is there any other solution other than re-routing this cable?

It sounds like your ground wire on your head unit may need to be moved. Did you run new speaker wire when you installed them?

bigaudiofanat 06-17-2012 07:14 PM

Did a 2007 trailblazer over the weekend. Installed

Kicker 6.5 components
Kicker 6.5 coaxial's

alpine 4 channel amp.

Have you done any installs in the touring models that have BOSE? I see youv'e done several in base models but mine has BOSE and just wondering if it'll sound better/worse or the same using the stock speakers. Thanks

May want to read up on this,

http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/4...bout-bose.html

I have done 2 370z bose systems and a few in other cars.

It is going to sound a little better with a new head unit however your not going to be able to power them from your head unit, you will have to let the bose amp do that.

Brian I have seen this a lot, where the antenna output of the pioneer does not supply enough voltage to turn on the powered antenna in some cars. The best way to wire the antenna adapter is to wire it to the REM or remote output of the radio instead.

I would recommend you get a full component set or a set of tweeters with crossovers. The stock crossovers are not going to help very well with a new set. And replacing the entire woofer and tweeter set would be the best way to go.
