Awesome! The VTR guys *arent'* going on Friday, no big deal. How many people showed up last week?

Side note (And I promise only plug):
My part out thread is going up on Tuesday, but I just wanna let you local guys I'm willing to give better deals on my stuff (winter setup, LTH, CBE, HKS Drop ins, Dyno Dash). All the details will be up soon, but yeah, willing to give better prices to all you guys. However, I can't hold items since I'll be listing for a higher price in my part-out thread. PM me if you're interested.

chuckd05 11-05-2011 09:08 PM

I'd say there was 50 cars on line tops. Ran smooth as can be and I'm sure if we got that earlier you could run way more than I did.

Was better than any visit I've had to e-town.

Started my meth injection install today, can't wait to get back. I'm going to PM you to
Get info to setup meet time an stuff.

I play basketball Wednesday nights which I paid for but maybe I'll skip that to Come to meet.

When are you picking up the car?

chuckd05 11-05-2011 09:13 PM

Friday actually says 60% rain , ugh.

Could you go following Tuesday if it rains ?

SORRY FOR HIJACK . Lmao

mr_sk 11-05-2011 09:13 PM

Awesome - sounds like we'll get as many runs as we want.

Goodluck on the meth install dood, hope it all goes smooth for ya. Going to be a sweeet day at the track!

Yeah, weather for the week seems OK so far, I'll def. be at the meet unless we get 12" of snow or rain, heh.

Leaving tomorrow afternoon for the epic 10+ hr drive....

(Also, winter setup is already claimed, getting picked up tomorrow. Gave a nice discount to a local gent).

EDIT: Just saw your update...yeah I could do following Tuesday. PM me if you want and we can take this off list.

AlphaSnacks 11-06-2011 02:24 PM

We're definitely having a meet this week. Everyone try to make it.

Chuck, your trap speeds are pretty high... i'm guessing you didn't have much grip on the launches? what was the 60' time on your 12.3?

oh damn. Ben you HAVE to take the GTR on the cherohola skyway. i drove my 300zx home from FL (we went west because of the hurricane irene) and took the skyway in tennessee. it was the most amazing driving road i've ever been on. you have to go on it. It'll make you fall in love with the GTR. Someone told me to take the road and i was like 'eh whatever how good could it be, its just a road?' but damn... its incredible.

idk if its nissan as much as it is a scumbag dealer. They probably hoped that after he came all that way he'd just settle for the car. If they car was in good shape, he'd have gotten there and they'd jack up the price on him knowing he just traveled a thousand miles. But in this case they had a car with a low price, but then the big surprise that it was in terrible shape. They hoped he'd just settle on taking the car.

AlphaSnacks 11-08-2011 12:50 PM

That is ******* awful to hear. Wow, I'd be heated if I drove all the way there for a shitty car. But how come you didn't look at the CarFax? The CarFax shows this car is a piece of ****. It was literally at the dealership every 3 weeks.

The owner also beat the **** out of it for Nissan to have to service and check the transmission.

CARFAX Vehicle History Report on JN1AR54F79M251497

-Interior trim checked
-Brakes checked

-Automatic transmission checked
-Drivability/performance checked

-Drivability/performance checked

-Four wheel alignment performed at a dealership in Florida 300 miles away from Macon/ATL, GA. He likely hit something.

-Engine/powertrain computer/module checked

-Automatic transmission fluid and filter changed (at 20K miles? That's not right)

-Drivability/performance checked at 22K @ 5/2011

Here's the shady part, at one point after buying the car the owner drove this car 1-2K miles a month. But after that last service, something clearly went very, very wrong. Because between May 2011 and October 2011 (when the car was sold to the dealer) he only drove it 1K miles.

Chances are the car was crashed or something got really f*cked up to the point it couldn't be driven. CarFax is not just for accidents, if you know how to read the patterns of service intervals and how to interpret what the "descriptions" are, you'll know how to avoid a lemon like this.

Glad this happened to you before you signed any paper work.

....the car had a free carfax and you didn't look at it? :wtf2: oh well. like arnold said at least you didn't sign any paperwork. If you want to feel better about it just read my 300zx journal. its chock full of pretty much every bad thing that can happen during a vehicle purchase/build aside from actually crashing the car into a wall and dying.

godamn your Ninja edit, I was just going to make a comment about buying a car and not checking compression :|

AlphaSnacks 11-08-2011 01:01 PM

I wouldn't knock him for it. A lot of people just assume if it doesn't show an accident, it's fine. Because that is what CarFax is primarily for - accident history. But it's also useful to see trends or patterns in a car's service history.

I went through like 10 BMW 335i Coupes before I found one with a good service history for my girlfriend.

I paid performance motorsport 200 dollars to inspect the car, check the compression etc. They supposedly checked the compression and then lied to me about it saying it was 'good,' never actually gave me numbers. then when i rechecked it for a 120k they said the compression must have gone bad in the 300 miles i put on the car since i had it inspected. they missed pretty much every single issue there was with the car. Not my fault. but i was the one who had to pay in the end.

AlphaSnacks 11-08-2011 01:08 PM

LMAO. The stealth edit returns.

AlphaSnacks 11-08-2011 01:08 PM

Btw, meet tomorrow is on. I am not passing up this awesome weather!

Everybody should come out tomorrow.

toxik 11-08-2011 01:13 PM

at least he made the smart decision while at the dealership.... it's easy to judge the situation from the side once you know all the facts.

mr_sk 11-08-2011 05:27 PM

Guys, that isn't the VIN to the car I Was looking at. Jesus christ, I did look at carfax.
Just got home like 2m ago. Here's the carfax: http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...AR54F89M251511

AlphaSnacks 11-08-2011 05:39 PM

That one isn't any better though, bro. May even be worse seeing as how many times it exchanged hands. Pretty weird history there.

But I'm glad you made it home fine. And I'm glad you didn't get stuck with a piece of sh*t jalopy. You wanna come out tomorrow to the meet?

The service history is fine IMO, I don't see anything that is a red flag. Sure it changed hands, but GTRs do. I mean I don't see any major service / maintenance issues here. Anyways, yeah I'll be there.

Also, **** wasn't cheap, it was a 2009 w/17k going for 66,500 from the dealer. So, you'd expect the car to be in great condition. Whatever, I learned my lesson. I really wanted to buy from the dealer because of the warranty issues and they are stating the car hasn't been modded, launched, etc, all under warranty. etc. blah blah.

AND the dealer/sales guy told me this CAR had NEVER BEEN LAUNCHED.

AlphaSnacks 11-08-2011 09:59 PM

Dealers are all full of sh*t. I would never buy a car like GT-R used - it is an extremely easy car to abuse. Supras. TT 300ZXs. STIs. EVOs. Etc - people abuse the piss out of these cars, and the GT-R will fall into that category. It's relatively cheap to buy and very easy to lease.

But if driven right, they are supposed to be fairly reliable. Nick911SC's dad has a GT-R and he's never had a problem with it, and he drives it almost daily.

mr_sk 11-08-2011 10:08 PM
