The writing is on the wall. Car companies are not going to start a car from scratch, that utilizes a gas engine only. Nissan has already undergone hybrid r&d for the GTR. As Christian Meunier stated, the GTR is their halo car and that will continue. "The 370Z is not a priority for us" but added "he/we would like to make a successor to the 370Z."
I take that to mean, no new model Z in the near future. But I keep hope that it's possible to get a hybrid Z in the distant future, as Nissan can use the info learned from the GTR hybrid to incorporate into the next Z.
