From the suspension to ride/comfort and the manual transmission shifts so much better than the one in the 2009 I used to have.

I am very tempted to pickup a 2015+ Nismo 6MT.

I don’t think they have made any transmission changes at all.

Maybe not published but definitely it shifts much better. More precise and much less notchy.

I think we all have to be honest with ourselves here. Chances are, we won't see a Z35 or R36 concept any time soon. It may be 2 or 3 years until we see one.

The hints, of such concepts not showing up, are there. Why would Nissan update the R35 just for 2017, only to release the R36 in 2018 or 2019? Right now it seems the next GTR will come in 2020 at the earliest. By the same token, why would Nissan make updates for 2018 sport trims and above, as well as design heritage edition for the base trim, only to gut their current Z34 sales by unveiling a Z35 concept now? These "minor" updates cost money to brainstorm, R&D, and adjust for production procedures. These updates just won't happen for 1 or 2 model years if they have production models of the next generation arriving after that amount of time (in 1-2 years).

But who knows? Maybe we are all wrong and Nissan will surprise us with at least one sports car concept either this month or next year. What we do know is the Nismo Leaf and an electric crossover will be there. There are less and less incentives to offer performance cars as the world is being forced to go the way of electric and self-driving cars.

In the case that the Z line is discontinued, we can either go with forced induction or jump ship to other brands. Some excellent candidates would be Camaro SS, Stingray, Cayman, Supra MKV FT-1, or used R35. As people age, they tend to make more money so hopefully current Z owners would be able to upgrade to cars like that.

It's going to look really bad if the 40th and 50th anniversary editions are the same car

What zs-carpenter said has given me hope. I can’t imagine Nissan 1) celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Z with the same car they celebrated the 40th anniversary with and 2) not having a Z to celebrate with at all. Maybe we will get a surprise this week or at least some positive news.

Indeed the GT-R was a bigger facelift with real tuning.

The 370Z though, that was just swapping paint for a few parts. Remember they did an even bigger upgrade for the last two years of the 350Z.
Somehow, espacially the Heritage just feels like Nissan has to get rid of stock of base model parts.

Anyway I'd still be surprise to see a new Z in Tokyo at all.
I am now just sitting here and waiting for the IDS concept to become a real production car to replace my Focus.

“The real star of the show for Nissan, however, remains under wraps. Internal sources are being extremely tight-lipped.

What it will not be is the much rumoured replacement for the 370Z. Even in concept form that vehicles is still some time away.”

Could they end the z? I don't want the z to die. But it seems like Nissan doesn't care about the z anymore. Waiting for the Tokyo auto show to finally give up on Nissan or not.

From some of the rumors I am hearing, Nissan is going 'big' with electric this year.
Many of the cars will be electric versions or current models or variations of the Leaf, CUV leaf, Nismo leaf, etc.
