Welp so much for that....so Z news is going to die down this year, I can't wait until next year when the auto blogs start spreading rumors about the next Z again....

Nissan won’t replace its 370Z sports car any time soon, and it certainly won’t be revealing a seventh-generation Z-car at this year’s Tokyo motor show in October.

That’s the word from now-departed Nissan Australia managing director Richard Emery, who finally provided some clarity around the on-again-off-again 370Z successor at last week’s launch of the 370Z NISMO.


“Even we don’t know,” Emery told motoring.com.au when we asked him about a US report claiming Nissan will show a new Z at Tokyo.

“And we would know if there was something pending, so there’s nothing pending. Not any time soon.”

You are right...I think ppl are mixing up TAS (tokyo auto salon, January 2018), with the Tokyo Motor Show (end of October 2017).

Yeah the Z34 does depreciate but what im saying is supply and demand.... the evo is a perfect example. They evo died and now evo x that people were hating are holding or gaining value due to nothing coming after....

I think the last evo x went for like 100k.. why? No idea... it didnt even come with recaro seats in the last models...

If the Z died then the z34 would have no more production cars and the supply would be all that's left. Looking at what is available now for great Japanese sports cars it's slim picking... evo is dead, s2000 is dead, Sti is still there, brz.... slow... so nothing is really out there for sub 50k Japanese new cars.

Just like I thought. No Z to be presented in Tokyo. I knew it. That's why I'm looking at other companies. I may just go to Toyota when that Supra come out.

They should just drop the new VR30DETT motor from the Q60 in the 370 Z and call it a day for a few years. That would be the ultimate update.

Ford also probably sells more mustangs in a week than Nissan sells zs in six months. It's easy to amortize multiple engines when you sell 100k units. Nissan these days is lucky to sell 5k zs a year.

Even at its peak, the 350/370s never saw the sales of the pony cars. Between the lack of a back seat and the comparatively higher pricing, the z has been a niche vehicle for a long time now.

Even with more updates, they're not going to jump from 5-10k annually to the level of the camaro or mustang.

the R&D has been done with the vr30dett. considering how much lighter the 370z is than the new q60 i think the update would make it a super blast to drive.
