And for anyone who might wonder if their dyno simply is reading high, later in that Stillen thread they said no that isn't the case, as this is the exact same dyno that the current 3.7L V-6 with 332HP at the crank measures where it should (just south of 300HP).

brucelidat 08-01-2016 12:55 PM

stock 370s normally dyno around 275-280.

Volk Z 08-01-2016 02:08 PM

I think the GTR was the same they said 465hp or whatever when it came out and it was actually much more. This video makes me laugh when I saw earlier people saying they don't care about the new Z and are glad they just bought a 2016 haha... this thing in reverse will smoke a 370z! If it's really rated more in the 450hp range so 400 wheel hp that's like 130 more wheel hp than a 370z... and if it's more aero and lighter than yeah enjoy your 370z!! Haha

You have to remember, to each their own. Honestly I think the new Z will be amazing.

The few things that the 370z will have in its favor are low production numbers (unless the z35 flops the 370z is the lowest production Z of all time), will have the biggest displacement enging (no replacement like displacement?!:ugh2:) , and a style like very few cars. It looks like the the damn thing has a wide kit and slight sexy modern muscles sticking out! I actually hope I don't like the new Z tooo much because I plan on building my 370z for a long time. My goal is ~400bhp and ~3100lbs with all the comforts I'm looking for. Perfect! (400bhp is probably more then i want personally. so guys with 400whp -> "1000whp" z35 ... meh ...)

There are few factors that I can't weight to see. (see what I did there) My guess is
410bhp and 3400lbs at $52,000 for the nismo.
400bhp and 3250lbs at $40,000 for the sports package V6tt.
---bhp and >3100lbs at $28,000 for stock *** base model ?????

I think realistically trying to get a car 400+bhp and around or under 3000lbs would just be way to expensive to make. I mean that's better numbers then a porsche cayman gt4 starting at $84,000. Possible, yes. Probable ... Probably not.

Firebase99 08-01-2016 04:21 PM

Naaaa, assuming there is a Z35 i think its obvious it will share the 400HP turbo power plant which is underrated quite a bit. If the Z35 stays at same weight, even gains a few pounds due to the welcomed tech, given the right chassis, coupled with that engine? Oh my....

The Nismo looks pretty bad in your speculative numbers. 150 lbs heavier, only 10 more hp and $12k more?

laserbluemini 08-01-2016 04:37 PM

count me out if it doesnt have Dat *** like the 370z.

Yeah the current nismo is 12k over the base. That's crazy to me. YEah 150lbs may have been a little high. I still think less then 100lbs over base with the same engine. I think its something like that now. Also sorry, I do think the current nismo is kind of a bad deal and my speculations just amplifies that. :wtf2: Man i just cant wait to see!

I agree. The 370z looks great from behind

brucelidat 08-01-2016 07:28 PM

with a turbo'ed engine, they could probably tune more of a hp difference out of the nismo

UNKNOWN_370 08-01-2016 09:12 PM

I put on 50 shades of grey. I thought it was a documentary about the Nissan-Infiniti paint production on their vehicles....

I was wrong!:roflpuke2:

NISMO IX 08-02-2016 12:45 AM

Doubtful they would do this but, why not keep the style and just update the tech. For example, in Vietnam the U.S. Army had the Cobra gun ship helicopter, fast forward to the mid to late nineties and you've got yourself a SuperCobra outfitted with the latest tech. Improve upon what is a great car and make it even better.

BTW.... I am also guilty of eyeing the new Vette. Never was a fan but GM actually did something right with this latest Corvette, even the base model is rated to do 0-60mph in 3.7sec.

Volk Z 08-02-2016 01:31 AM

What would be nice is making the Nismo a legit track car and make it lighter, better braking, better cooling and more power.

Let's do some carbon pieces, oil coolers, 2 piece front rotors, recaro seats etc.

brucelidat 08-02-2016 01:55 AM

if the z35 stays about the same weight ~3300lbs and stock dynos at 375whp/350wtrq, I am on board as long as it still looks sexy. You'll probably be able to hit mid 400s with bolt-ons and tuning with a factory TT DI engine that starts out at that level. I believe you can get 400whp out of stock turbo 300 ZXs. A more modern version with DI has to be way over that.

In a way I agree, but they've got to take the opportunity to refresh the look after 9 years or sales won't go anywhere. Performance is great and all, and I'm jonesing for refreshing in that area like anyone, but nobody wants to be driving a 2018 370Z that's essentially indistinguishable to the untrained eye to a 2009 370Z (other than that it disappears up ahead quicker).

They will definitely do at least a refresh.

UNKNOWN_370 08-02-2016 08:48 AM

I hope the next Z has a microwave in the glove compartment so I can warm up microwaveable cheeseburgers while I'm driving. :yum:

And I want a cooling cup holder for my Yeti.

Dirk McGurck 08-02-2016 08:59 AM

Warm the burgers on your oil. Lord knows it gets warm enough.

ped 08-02-2016 10:16 AM

Odd we're not seeing more replies to the driving/review videos here of the Infiniti version with the twin-turbo - especially as it looks like Nissan is sandbagging on the HP numbers. Is no one but the few of us replying excited by this?

I like to keep my expectations low, mitigating disappointment.

Down south we do engine burritos. No need to waist weight on a microwave. You have a damn gas powered oven! And the faster you drive, the faster it heats it up!

:icon14: There's already three: center console plus one in each door. I keep bottled waters in the door cup holders. Don't need more. Just need a bigger one in the center console.

Cliff notes from the article:

- Z enthusiast named "Mad Mike" learns there might be no more Zs after the 300ZX
- Travels to Japan to convince Nissan to build another Z
- Nissan builds another Z
- People still enjoy the Z till this day
- The end

mishuko 08-02-2016 03:00 PM

funny... I met mad Mike at zdayz this year.

he is in Toronto for zcon, spoke with him for a bit. He remembered me hazily. I was like you know... I was that Asian with the Asian girl with the MAZOC group at dinner?

OH! right... y'all look alike.

Mike is a good man.

back to topic. there's always a bottle of water in the passenger side door for waifu.

Direct Adaptive steering. I'm almost sure it won't be on the Z.

They should do "Back to the Future 4" and use the new Z35 in it. Michael J Fox won't have trouble out running the Libians this time ;)
