speaking of the Q60 coupe this article speculates if it will make a surprise appearance at TMS . which would make the Z even less likely as im sure they want to stagger the debut of their two similar cars

yea I agree. highly doubt they would debut both together. kinda leaves some hope to repeat the debut at LA though for the Z. I mean its only 1 month separation from Tokyo but could be enough? lol

I just wish we had even some slight hint at what the fate of the next Z was or when.

Its odd that the Z hasnt had any decent changes since 2009. Only minor cosmetic changes here and there. Thats not good.
The gtr same. But at least it had a decent power boost but not too much of a change over the yrs.
Nissan needs to hire new people or something

Here's an article about the next Infiniti Q60:

Infiniti Q60 Coupe to Debut at 2016 Detroit Auto Show

Look for more details on the production Infiniti Q60 toward the end of this year, ahead of the car's debut in January 2016.
If the production version of the Q60 is gonna be unveiled at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show then we're getting close to the next Z..... I hope.

The Q60 design is very nice. Leagues above what Nissan has been putting out lately. Clean flowy lines. In Forza 6 the car is 400hp and around 3650lbs.

Too heavy for a Z, but the motor seems promising if they share it.

According to this article, the production model is "very very close" from the concept shown in the pictures. Also it states that it carries a "3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine". Hopefully this will carry over to the new Z.

I think that's a pretty safe bet. For all their musing over a "completely new platform", it just doesn't make sense for them to do that.

Throw the 3.0 TT in there, market it as the "Triumphant Return of the 300ZX!!!", then, try and shed 100 lbs or so. So long as it goes faster, has turbo, and looks and handles as well or better than the 370: win

At barely $30K for the base model, the current Z is already "the affordable sports car."

Agreed. The lack of innovation is what kills products. I'm surprised the 370Z is still somewhat relevant after 6 years. Then again, the S2000 was able to milk it for longer, so congrats to Nissan I suppose. At least the 350Z, like the GT-R, though to a much lesser extent, continued to grow and improve throughout its lifespan. Drive an '03 and '08 Z back to back and the difference in driving experience is very noticeable. The Z33 even carried 3 different motors in its 5 or 6 years. Drive an '09 and '15 Z on the other hand, and well, the improvement in driving dynamics is almost absent. My 350Z is just slightly more modded than the 370Z, but the latter doesn't feel too much of an upgrade with the exception of the interior materials, Syncho Rev, and added mid-range torque.

I'm not putting down the Z, I'm obviously a fan. I just hope Nissan gets the Z35 right or I am going to jump ship.

NRTim 10-29-2015 03:40 PM

Nissan says GT-R and 370Z are not

I wonder how long are they going to keep the 370Z around...
