Mine used to pop open with one press until I replaced the sport spoiler with the Nismo spoiler. Now it does the same thing as yours

Guess I'm in the club now. 2015 Nismo hatch clicks on the first touch but is still locked. I have to press the button and pull up or it stays locked.

I had the same issue with my 16' Z Nismo. I didn't think just switching out the springs would fix it. But it did. The service dealership I go to where I bought the car are very good to me.

I find it really interesting this wasn't fixed way back in '09 they just put a TSB out and after reading a number of stories from fellow Z owners i'm really surprised it's not covered for anyone that has warranty left. Even out of warranty, it should still be covered.

The one tech that knew a lot about Z's explained to me it's not just the 370's it's other model's as well. So far so good for me anyway. Next step would of been replacing the button he said which is a lot more work with the bumper needing to be removed. Hopefully this is a perm. fix. Good luck. I do believe in going to another dealership and seeing if they will help. Really depends which one you go to. Some people are lucky, other's we all know are not. Calling Nissan is a big hassle and it's not worth the time going through that channel for something like this. The springs are worth maybe a dollar or two to make. The mark up is unreal with these oem parts.

I find Nissan accountable though for this not the dealership. It's a major issue the tech said who has worked for them for years and said he was really surprised year after year he sees this same issue.

mine gets stuck 90% of the time and I have a base 09 (no wing). I have to press mine 2-3 sometimes 4 times in order to open my trunk.

Finally found a way to fix mine cheaply and now it pops open every single time even with all the dynamat I placed in the top of the hatch. I glued 1/4" thick rubber washers to where the springs meet on either side of the hatch.

Kudos Delirious - I think this is the answer! I got rid of the stock weight and added the Nismo wing to a sport yet still have this issue despite trying the fixes mentioned. The thicker rubber adds longterm springiness whereas the pennies, nickels, Nissan's springs, etc. don't. Do you remember where you bought the washers?

I'm pretty sure they came from Lowe's. Honestly I just found them laying in the garage

^ i used to do something similar. I used those thick clear plastic tabs for cabinet doors and chair/table legs. But they always slowly wiggle out of alignment. What glue did you use?

I did a 180 degree turn on one of the springs and that seemed to have fixed it.

My NISMO is only 3 months old and already I've been to the dealership twice for the hatch issue. They replaced the springs...still didn't work. I put a nickel in each rubber boot. Still didn't work. I removed the weight in the hatch (under plastic panel). Still not better. Took back to dealer today and the service guy told me that there is nothing more they can do. It is a design flaw that Nissan never fixed. He says most of the new Z's on the lot are the same way. I'm somewhat pissed. I frequently use my hatch and have to use both hands to open it, which means I have to set things on the ground first. I think I might try the rubber washer and glue trick.

I don't know exactly why, but turning the springs about .25-.5 turns until it felt tighter seems to have cured my problem. Opens every time with 1 pop for the last 2 months
