It's worth asking 'em. They might say no, but they'll never say yes if you don't ask. It's possible they will contact you, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Edit: I'd wait until after the official announcement of the Voluntary Service Campaign before contacting Nissan.

Took my '10 roadster in for service - my service guy (who's really great) said "there's a recall about to come out to replace your steering lock. There have been some problems. Let's go ahead and replace yours." I've been reading about the problems here but haven't experienced any myself - but no time like the present so they swapped it out. He said there's also an extended warranty on the recall/replacement part.

Good call to just go ahead with the replacement. By the time you experience problems, it will be too late.

Wow. I never thiught this day would come.

Should I put the fuse back first? Or just forget about the whole thing?

If you don't mind the hassle, put the fuse back in, have dealer replace the ESCL and then pull the fuse again. Forget about it if you don't want the hassle.

I have a Rev D and my car is not part of the recall. But I know of several forum members who had their ESCL fail once, got it replaced with Rev D and then had it fail yet again I'm not risking it; my fuse was pulled months ago...

that's my plan! I'm on hold with the dealer right now to get the part.

I'm glad Nissan is finally dealing with this!

I would love to take mine in with the fuse pulled, just to see how they would react, but no telling how that might complicate things. I'll be putting my fuse back in before going to the dealer.

I'll be getting the new ESCL (SLU) and then pulling the fuse again. I figure it might be worth a few bucks when I go to sell the Z if I can tell the potential buyer that it has the latest and greatest ESCL revision. Can't hurt.

Good point. It's like replacing an old time bomb with a new one which set the timer little bit back in the future...

We haven't read much faulty on RevDs just because it's the newest and haven't had enough time to prove them good or bad. But I am sure I already read somewhere the RevD failed too. And please think... There must be a reason for Nissan giving up using the SLU on the newest models!

While it's good to have this recall, maybe we should have a new poll for people encountered SLU failure AFTER replacing with the new unit.
