Post Noise when going from 1st to 2nd *Help*

When I shift from 1st to 2nd, it almost feels like there's loose parts under my car. In a way, like pipes banging together. Not all the time and also not very loud but still. And even sometimes if I'm downshifting or going from 2nd to Neutral. I'm sure this isn't a "normal" thing but is this something that I should get checked out or keep an ear open for? It just seems like something is loose but I'm not sure what to look or listen for.

Also when I shift into certain gears, it almost feels like it's "catching" on something before it goes into the gear. It has no problem changing gears, just when I go to put it into that gear, it feels like its getting snagged on something.

Please Help.
Thanks

I have the "catching on something" problem too. Very strange.

If I shift very slowly (pausing in neutral for a sec) it won't grind or anything, but I sure didn't buy the car only to drive it like a granny

i believe a ton of Z owners have it and it is part of what we call the "clunky" clutch. I have a noise from 1 to 2 and a catching grab and click from 2-3 even when fully depressed. Nissan has gone over it many times and the clutch, tranny, slave cylinder are all fine..

Welcome to the world of Nissan 370Z clutches...

Sounds like normal 370z tranny operation to me, short of any kind of grinding, but I could be reading this wrong.

My 13 is pretty clunky also, but no grinds or noise. Deffinately makes it hard to shift fast and smooth together. Reminds me of my Evo....... Extremely clunky stock gearbox.

Thumbs up

Alright as long as I'm not the only one with this issue I can relax.
Thanks

Mine is clunky as well. If it grinds that's another matter..

I had the same noise, and its been driving me crazy. I recently took my car into the dealership and told them about the noise. The changed my transmission fluid for me, with only 2300 miles on the car. I was worried about bits of metal floating around in the transmission case. The tech said the fluid was clean, and the magnets didn't have any particles attached to them, which was a relief.

The noise is much quiter now, and the shifts are better in all gears. I will tell you to shift at >3k rpm from 1st to 2nd. This car wants to run, and the higher the rpm your shifts are, the smoother your shifts are going to be.
