Exclamation Both Rocker Panels Damaged During Service

I took my Z in for an oil change today and when I got my car back I noticed that both rocker panels had been damaged from being on the lift. This is the second time this has happened but the first time which was at a different dealership the damage was so minimal that I didn't think anything of it.

On the plus side the service advisor had arranged for new panels to be ordered, painted and installed within 2 minutes of me pointing it out to him ( Didn't even really have to point it out he just walked around the corner and said yup I see it ). He said that this was the third time he has had this happen and it only occurs on 370s.

This is definitely something that you guys want to look out for when taking your Zs in for service!!!!!!

I would upload a picture but I don't know how

I can solve part of this problem. Stop bringing your Z in for Oil Changes and do it yourself. I would never let a Nissan dealer touch my car let alone put it on a lift unless it was having some warranty work done.

Yikes. They're using proper lift points and still causing rocker damage?

I don't know if they are using proper lift points or not. I would not be surprised if they are lifting it wrong because I have had my Z in for service two times and they have made their lack of knowledge for 370s apparent both times. They first time I went in for service the adviser did not even know what ester oil was

Another reason you should stay as far away as you can from the dealer. Your gonna trust that there putting the proper oil in?? Let alone lift the car properly.

I think your right. I am going to have to invest in some ramps and start doing it myself.

Its very simple. When I use to live in the City (when I was much younger) my farther use to change his oil right in the street next to the curb. You can do it man.

Have a case of Redline ready with 6 quarts set aside for wife to take it in when she reaches 3500. Im not expected to be home or I would consider doing it myself.

Sorry to hear this as my concern is now heightened

Ya I read a lot about the poor quality work and lack of knowledge exhibited by Nissan service departments on here before I ever went in for my first service and now I have experienced this first hand on each of my 2 visits

Hopefully all will go well, never had any problems with this dealership servicing my Maxima and their general reputation has been pretty good.

It's simply an issue that the lift arms/pads need to be lowered to get under the rocker panels but then raised before seating on the lift points. Otherwise the lift arm contacts the rocker panel before the pad contacts the lift point. Pure laziness and stupidity on the part of the tech lifting the car.
