They said that if anything at all happens to the paint (obviously not being keyed etc.) that they will repaint any or all of the car at no cost to me.

I went ahead and purchased it. But no extended warranty. I personally never purchase extended warranties. The finance guy was pushing me on it for like 30 minutes.. kinda starting pissing me off. I figured somehow it was in his best interest to do this? Some sort of kickback?

thank God I had it...my hood trunk and compartment behind the convert top is getting repainted....it is down to the metal right now....not costing me a cent. I have the extended warranty-Gold Plus. Paint is under my plan. It would cost me 5-7k to repaint...got several estimates before I crabbed at the dealer. spots caused clear coat to crack-theory is tree sap.

I had one of those. :shakes head: He kept pushing it and pushing it and pissed my wife off. (We were both buying cars on the same day)

As Many said I would wait the 3 years and purchase it towards the end. But someone mentioned you have 90 days to purchase this? So which is it? Can you wait 2-3 years and then decide to purchase?

370z2k10 09-20-2010 10:19 PM

You have until the manufacturers warranty expires to purcahse a nissan extended warranty.

3 years or 36k miles

wilsonp 09-20-2010 11:38 PM

I believe they charge/cost more after the first year, so need to weigh the few hundred difference.

I got the dealer to add it in 7/70k gold Nissan extended warranty on a 2009 used.

I just bought a 2011 370z and was considering the extended warranty. On my last car (Toyota) I was able to buy from a Toyota Dealer out of state and saved hundreds of dollars on the warranty. Does anyone know if Nissan will allow this or has anyone tried it? I don't see any threads here about people trying to actually save money on the extended warranty.

Should be no problem.these extended warranties can be bought from any Nissan dealer in the country. They will quote different prices, so I got the warranty i wanted by sending out price quotes.

it's cheaper to get one as soon as you buy the car, else, as the original 3 yr 36K comes close to expiration, it will be more expensive to purchase an extended, plus the ordeal of getting your car inspected at the dealership.. another added expense.

If you get an extended within first 30 days of new car purchase, don't need to submit the inspection report..

Good luck

When I turned down the extended warrenty they obvious couldn't believe it. Had to tell them no three times. Plans I have with car it will be out of warrenty anyways. They ended up giving it to me for free. She said happy new year. And I made sure it was.

Excellent, glad I found the right one. I bought the car on 23 December so I'm still under 30 days, I was thinking about getting the 96 Month 120,000 Mile Coverage. What is everyone else getting? This is a complicated car and I'm sure it is expensive to have work done to it so I don't mind paying for this. If I sell it, it's transferable and if I don't use it I can get back a refund of the remainder of the warranty.

With all the electronics, sensors, high end navigation unit, a complicated transmission, it does make sense to get one. I had a mercedes sl 500 before this car, and the extended warranty covered $18,000 worth of expenses.. so yes, it's definitely a peace of mind. I am quite certain the Z will be ten times more reliable, plus i was little bummed to find out nissan only offers a standard 3 yrs > 36,000 bumper to bumper, while most manuf. offer at least 4 and 50K.. anyhow for my peace of mind, i got the extended.. some say it's a waste of money, but from my personal experience, they are invaluable when you actually do need them.

I thought i would chime in becasue i am that "smuck" some of you refer to... haha i know most finance guys are hated by customers but the fact is alot of people are on a tight budget and if something breaks on a car they simply cannot afford to repair it. That is who they are mainly intended for. I work at a Buick GMC store and we use a warranty company called EASYCARE. They are the only motor trend recomended warranty. As a finance guy we are only paid off what we sell... (warranty, dent care, key care, paint care, and rate mark-up)... so you can see why we push it so hard... i cant look-up cost on a nissan plan but easycare "total care" will cover anything that that will.....(maybe more), the dealer cost on a 2011 370z for a 72/100k was $1325 with a 100 deductible. As a finance guy with some morals i will mark it up anywhere from 250-1000. another thing to think about is the easycare i use offers a 0% for up to 18 months. Most warranty companies have that option for ya. I can anwser any questions yall have about any product....hope this helps...

I bought the 96 month 120,000 mile Gold Preferred warranty. So far I must say I'm not impressed with this dealers customer service. I call them for some additional information and they answered my questions but seemed like they could care a less if they sold me this $1800 warranty or not. Also the person I spoke to didn't really seem that well informed. I told him my car was 3 weeks old and had 450 miles on it and I asked if it needed an inspection and he said no. After I buy the warranty online I get an automated EMAIL from them saying that ALL cars must have an inspection with NO EXCEPTIONS. I EMAIL them about this and 24 hours later still no response. Also asked about getting a refund on the warranty if I never used it and he said that it's Nissans policy to not refund warrantys. I know this is partially untrue because I do beleive at the very least I have a certain number of days after I purchase the warranty to back out of it. I know with my Toyota warranty I was able to get a prorated refund on the unused portion even after a couple years into it.

You can back out of a warranty.. That is a fact. Once you buy a warranty, then, your paperwork will be mailed to you. You have 15 days to sign and return to it. I am pretty sure, if you don't return the paperwork, they will void the contract and return your money. Because, the warranty is not in effect until they receive the signed paperwork and tell Nissan USA to activate it. So, you can definitely tell them, no thanks, refund my money.

Even if you do purchase the warranty w/ the signed paperwork, you should be able to cancel the warranty. Ask them specifically where in the contract or website it states, they are non-refundable.
