it sounds like 1500 is the low end, with a staggering 4500 being the rediculously absurd high end.

thanks!

anyone else able to chime?

I plan on getting the extended warranty towards the end of the 3/year standard warranty. Also, as an FYI I believe the motor/tranny are covered for 5 years. I'll dig up more info and post it up.

While I agree with Robert Nash's point on warranty being a margin generating beast - I still purchased it. I did the same on my Porsche 996 and it more than paid for it. Pretty much one major incident and I feel good about the money spent. Given the nature and intent of my NISMO, I expect to expose it to "harsh driving" and having this just makes me feel a bit better so like most insurance, I'm buying peace of mind vs. a hard product.

Adding:
Purchased Security Plus Gold Preferred and paid $2,495 (I know, I know... profit for them but, I intend to use it!)

i paid 2,500 for gold perfered, imo i think its worth it as it covers way more than standard. 100k or 6yr, only drive about 12k miles a year, so im covered until my finance is done which is 6 years, after that im gettin a newer Z =]

from what i read, if you have MBI (mechanical breakdown insurance) which is usually part of a comprehensive insurance plan, you are already covered for most, if not all of what the extended warranty covers.

Yeah, Extended DOESN"T mean above and beyond. You already have bumper to bumper the minute you drive off the lot. Extended Warranties SHOULD be purchased right around the time your original nissan warranty is going to expire. Otherwise you may be wasting money. It doesnt take effect until the original expires anyways so if you no longer have the car due to accident, stolen, or you just trade it in you ONLY get back a pro-rated amount of the premium. Makes NO sense. IMHO..

You also can transfer it, so if you get into a jam or just feel like trading your car in or selling it to a private party, it adds some trade-in or resale value. Granted, it might be worth it just to sell it back and get that pro-rated premium, but peace of mind(the reason people buy these) carries quite a premium itself.

Yes you can transfer it BUT, why pay for it if it doesn't cover anything until the original warranty has expired. You wouldn't buy car ins from 2 different companies on 1 car would you??? All I am saying is buying it before you need it is a waste.

Paid 899. for security gold plan 75,000 mi or 5 years for my 370z. You can barter the price of the warranty shop around at other dealers for the best price. Bought same warranty for o4 350z kept 5 years money well spent air issues whole in radiator towed in on flat bed and 3 oil leaks had to be repaired would have cost 4-5,000 out of pocket with out warranty.

i know this is an old thread, but wanted to ask you since you are a detailer. I have a 2010 370Z that has 1800 miles on it. I took it to get detailed and the guy told me about some "spots" where the clear coat is cracking-he said it looked like tree sap did it. The Simoniz people sent an adjuster who said it could be wet sanded and re clear coated then re Simonized. I also took it to a body shop who said it would need to be repainted -that you cannot take just the clear coat off.
Which one is more correct? Since the warranty with the clear coat is the one in question-I called Simoniz directly. Thanks for your help.

I paid $4100 for Gold Warranty and the maintenance program when I bought the car. I cancelled it the next week. Almost 6 months later, I am still waiting for my refund. Give me back my money!!!!!

I paid $1800 for the top line extended warranty.

I was never a fan of them till I got talked into one for my Lightning. It cost me $1400 way back in 2000 when I bought it new. After 4 years it blew a sparkplug out of the head (which turns out to be a know issue with the 5.4 liter engine), cost of repair was $3200. I then had a trace break on the dashboard and lost the backlighting, cost of repair was $900.

I figured with the level of technology in the fully loaded Roadster I wanted the insurance and $1800 divided by 7X12 comes out to costing me about 22 bucks a month...

Works for me.
