At what mileage do we change our brake fluid? (Sport Package)

At what mileage do we change our brake fluid? (14' Sport Package, never tracked)

I have 16,000 miles and I went to the dealer for service and they told me that I needed one. Just wanted to ask here first.

I did try to search for the answer myself in google and with our built-in search and couldn't find a simple answer to.

Any help its much appreciated.

At 16k I doubt you really need it, but I'll bet the pedal will feel better if you bleed the brakes with new fluid. If I was going to DIY, I'd go ahead and do it. If I had to pay the dealer, I'd wait.

Every track day. But for a DD some people never change it out at all. I'd just choose a random interval if I were you. 20k, 30k, something like that. Get yourself a vacuum pump and a buddy to push the brake pedal. Don't pay for a dealer to do something easy.

I agree with the other guys - you probably don't need to change but it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Changing/flushing brake fluid is a fairly easy job but, unless you have the right equipment, is a two-person job. Neither person has to be an expert but it will help if at least one of them has done it before.

For searching this site, I go to any of the big web search engines and add "site:the370z.com" to my search string. Eg, brake fluid change site:the370z.com

^Yeah I forgot to mention there are a few tricks like keep the master cylinder full so you don't suck air into the ABS module... gonna have a bad time.

I change mine based on time interval, not mileage. Change my brake fluid every 2 years since I don't drive many miles. I also change it along with all the other fluids. Diff, engine oil (done every year), transmission, etc.

If you plan to DIY stuff like brake fluid, invest in a vacuum pump or I have a motive power bleeder that works very well. Or find nearby forum member with said equipment and negotiate some pizzas and beer for the use of it.

It's pretty easy to boil the stock fluid, so consider upgrading to something like Motul RBF600. You will notice a difference if you ever have to make an emergency stop.

I do this as well. Especially the clutch fluid. I came from a BMW and they were insistent that the clutch/brake fluid were changed every 2 years, regardless of miles. Something about being hydroscopic. Being a closed system I don't know how moisture would get in but since I never had clutch or brake issues with the Bimmer, I continue to do the same on the Z.

I change brake and clutch fluid (same stuff) on my bike several times a year for that exact reason. Of course it's a lot easier on the bike and the job requires a lot less of it.

As others have said, change it based on time.....not mileage.

Brake fluid attracts mositure (hydroscopic). Over time your brakes will get soft and if you go too long, the moisture in your system will start to corrode other parts of your brake system.

I change mine a couple of times a year (due to track use) and everytime I change it, I am amazed at how much better the brakes feel.

It is cheap insurance. just do it.

honestly, unless ur pedal doesnt feel mushy no real need to change it right away.
