As others have said, change it based on time.....not mileage.

Brake fluid attracts mositure (hydroscopic). Over time your brakes will get soft and if you go too long, the moisture in your system will start to corrode other parts of your brake system.

I change mine a couple of times a year (due to track use) and everytime I change it, I am amazed at how much better the brakes feel.

It is cheap insurance. just do it.
