convertible maintenance

I have a 2011 Roadster (new to me)and was wondering if there is any thing I need to do as far as mechanical maintenance on the convertible mechanism?

does the manual say anything about maintenance for it? i would think you'd need to put some wd40 on it to keep it greased up

I would use white lithium grease, as it looks like that was applied at the factory on the major hinges of my 2011 Roadster.

I have had to have my top replaced because of wear on the sides where the mechanism folds. Luckily this was covered under warranty. I added some small pieces of foam tape to the hinges to stop the wear in the future. I will try to post pics of where I added tape, but if you search 370 convertible top, you will find an older thread on this forum that discusses the issue. Other than that, I have had no other issues or maintenance on my Z top.

I'd love to see pictures as I had my top replaced at the beginning of the summer, (Because i just bought the car) but i dont think my Extended Warranty covers future repairs (2010 Roadster) and I can see where the crease is starting.

Default Failed convertible top motor

I couldn't get my top to latch in the up position so I had to back it down manually and close it. I was barely able to close it with my wife's help holding the tonneau cover while I hit the button. It is now stuck in roadster mode. I took it to the dealer to find my warranty I purchased didn't cover the top. The dealer wants $7000 to replace the failed motor!!! I am in total shock and disbelief that a car with less than 30K miles would need a repair like this. Anyone have similar problems with their top? What did you do?

Running around. My 2010 Roadster is at Nissan right now, I had a problem similar to yours a few days ago pretty much the top stopped moving and with some help I was able to get it closed, I bought the car as is from a small dealer so I have no warranty, the tech showed me what was wrong 2 hydraulics along with some wires come built in with the top and a wire is broken they said they are not able to order those parts by themselves or that Nissan doesnt sell them that way. A new top is $14,000.00 that is not a type-o 14 grand, the service manager did not even consider getting a new top as an option he told me he is going to make calls and possibly have my car repaired by a place that specializes in convertible tops and there is several places like that in Houston. This in 1 of the biggest and busiest dealers around and even though they are trying I honestly don't think they know how to repair tops, I sure hope someone can fix it right for a reasonable price. I hope all goes well with you're Z as well.
