Default Cut out on full throttle

Hi All,

My 2013 Nissan 370Z Roadster (Convertible) It’s an Automatic – Cut out on full throttle. This has happened twice so far. It is only when I am full throttle. It happens around 60MPH. I am accelerating full throttle and it feels like a rev limiter or something. The gas to engine seems like it shuts off and you instantly have no power. In a few moments –I can hit the throttle again normally.

Is there some rev limiter on the automatic model- When in just Automatic (not shifting it with the paddles etc.)

Odd. Have you used an OBD scanner to see if you're getting any codes? Sometimes you can have a code (or codes) without the CEL coming on.

It may be traction control trying to kick in between shifts.

What revs is this happening at? do any lights flash, or turn on then off? mods?

The car learns your driving style and if your a slow and steady driver then one day decide to haul *** down the road it will not react in a desired way (unless using the paddle-shifters or the "Slap-stick" version) it may cut power to the engine because that's its learned process.

Driving in "D" is awful for me and I feel as if it takes forever to shift when im gunning it. You could have been stuck between gear changes and reved too much hit the rev limited and then the engine cut power, or something similar.

If there is no foreseeable problems with the car I think it can be chocked up as an anomaly

Any chance it was after a hard right turn?

It could be several things.
Rev limiter - I forget where it's set (see OM and/or FSM) but it's just a little above the tach redline. See FPenvy's solution above.
Weak fuel pump - not able to supply enough gas at higher RPMs. Check fuel pump inlet screen for obstructions. Check pump pressure/volume and replace if not up to spec.
Lateral G induced fuel starvation - the Z gas tank is not the best design and fuel can move away from the pump suction on hard turns (usually to the right as per DE.50) with a gas tank that is less than about a quarter full.
Traction/braking nannies - these can cut power when the car thinks you are in trouble.

Get an OBD scanner and see if the car is throwing any DTCs. If there are any codes, Google 'em.

Thanks for the detailed reply. One time was on a right turn coming down from a hill. The other time was getting on the freeway on a slight right turn and then get up to the Z speed.
