Cool New 2014 Nismo. Read and LEARN

I bought a new 2014 Nismo with Bose system and Nismo floor mats.

Grand total: $43,673.51 (EVERYTHING: tax tag title fees)
MSRP: approx $45,500
Invoice price: $41,536.00
Final offered price (before tax, tag, title, fees): $40,975.00. Below invoice!

Add ons (int./ext. protection including a 7 year paint warranty offered by the dealer):
$999.00 (unfortunately was not an option, already applied to upholstery and exterior paint. it's actually a great deal since where I work I'm prone to paint damage from the environment and can have it restored any time in the next 7 years)

My trade in (2005 Mazda RX8 with 135K miles)
Was offered $1200 (uh low-ball anyone?!)
I showed them my Edmunds.com "true market value" printout from their website which considered mileage and valued it at $2500. I also went to Carmax the day before and got an appraisal value of $2000.
Was then offered $2250 and took it.

-Sales tax in FL 6% so $2514.41
-Transferred my plate to the new car for $83.60
-Dropped $15K for down payment (and did not tell what amount until I sat down with the financial manager; IMPORTANT)
-Used my credit union to finance which offered me 1.74% @ 60 mos. (AWESOME SAUCE, my credit score is 800+)

-Final financed amount for my new toy: $27673.51

Will follow up later with a description of how the interaction with salesman went.

I got mine for $40,500.00 (before tax, tag, title, fees).
Bose package, backup camera, illuminated kick plates, Nismo floor mats, full tank of gas and they had to transfer the vehicle on a truck from another dealer 200 miles away. I called about 7 different dealers to see who would give me best price, took that to my local dealer and they honored the price. Simple and easy. You didn't do bad either.
Congrats on the new car man, it sure is an awesome car, I love mine.

My issue is with this statement... What MORON would even offer $1200 for an RX8 with an engine that will blow at any point?

Just messing... Kinda... Still hate rotaries in general...

But welcome to the dark side of awesomeness!

if you got'em

It probably will blow soon! Sort of expedited the decision to go for a new ride. The rotary was fun, but talk about torque-less... As Rafiki says, 'it doesn't matter, it in the past' -- on to bigger better things!

I was once a sucker of the "paint warranty" its a whole bunch of bs and I bet Nissan isn't even the one that covers it. It's a company on the side and you have to call them to deal with it. Which is never going to happen. They will find any loophole to not pay for your paint job. Make sure you read the fine print before you make a claim.

btw: this was through my previous car (Honda)

Wow. A $1,000 wax job? That poop better repel bullets.

No. We're just busting your balls. A few truths that I have learned over the years:

1) There is ALWAYS someone faster.
2) There is ALWAYS someone who paid less for what you just bought.

Don't fret about either. Just do your homework, don't pay retail, and be happy with what you have.

Ain't it the truth?

One of the worst feelings I ever had was making what I thought was a ridiculously low offer on a new car (300ZX btw) and having it accepted instantly. But I drove it for ten years, so even if I overpaid a little, it wasn't a big deal over that time span.

I pay strictly invoice only on any car I purchase. Even with rebates and boy they blow some steam. I traded my 04 350Z in on a 2012 Ford F150 then traded the Ford with 7k on it 3 months later in on my my 370Z. What did I get on my trade in might you ask? Exactly what I paid for it! LOL.
This was not a one day deal. I walked away initially and with haggling for about a week there after then I got my deal. Kelly Blue Book, NADA, and Edmunds are your best friend on trade in values. Print two out and bring them with you and give them one. One salesman "lost" the one I had so I pulled the second copy and asked him where the copier was and made him another copy. I am not fun with car salesman thats for sure!
