To all the Monterey Blue/Persimmon owners

When you ordered your Monterey Blue/Persimmon Z, did it take FOREVER to come in? I am hopefully recieving my Z this week after waiting about 4 months. Is this normal?

Not sure what the average wait is for this combo.....I went to one dealer and they found the combo for me....went and picked up the car and brought it to their dealership for me to pick up.

Whoa....unfortunately I've seen posts similar to yours on here many times. Maybe it didn't make it onto the boat? (If that's how they ship them.....not sure) I hope you get it sooner than what they said!

Fly up here to the MD/VA/PA area... plenty of blues to go around, and then some.

Pretty new here, but I've been lurking here since I was in the market for a new Z.

I am in the same boat as you, I jumped on here specifically to see how long it takes for an order to come through. I told the fleet manager that I wanted to order one at the end of June, allocation/order in July, then emailed me his order form that told me August build date and September delivery. He just sent me an update on 9/14 which has the VIN number on it now and also an ETA of the week of 10/16/09.

A little longer then I expected, the one thing we have in common is that I also got Persimmon seats, but chose the Plantinum Graphite exterior.

When I saw the delay I blamed the seat color... Your post pretty much confirms it, I think the cars are manufactured in batches with like colors etc.... persimmon interior must have been towards the end of the list.

actually, the delay is probably the splash guards, did you guys get splash guards w/ your Z?

Mine was delayed a month because there were no splash guards, all back ordered. So i told them to ship it without the splash guards and they did! got it the following week.

I went on auto trader and contacted EVERY dealer that had the Monterey Blue/Persimmon color combo by email. It was about 5-10 days before then end of the month (get better deals towards the end of the month). I told them I was a serious buyer, was pre approved (uploaded a copy of my pre approved letter to image shack and included the link in the email) , and I was not going to pay anything over dealer invoice. (I also included a link of dealer invoice pricing). I told them if they liked my terms and if they wanted to sell a car tomorrow then they could contact me via email or my cell phone. I also let them know that I contacted every dealer in the country that had this color combo with the options I wanted as well (which was about 14 other dealers).

Most contacted me, some tried upping the invoice price but a few gave me an invoice number. Needless to say I went with the dealer that was closest to me and had the cheapest air fare. The salesman transferred me to the closing person where I recieved the EXACT price of my car. I then had my lender overnight fed-ex the check to them. I took off of work for the rest of the week and I flew out the next day and drove it home!

This was by far the best car buying experience I have ever had. I don't think I will ever set foot on a dealership again to actually purchase a car. I will use this method every time--it was all too easy...

So I guess you can order today and wait 5 months or whatever or purchase a 150-200 dollar one way plan ticket and have it in a week. Well, thats assuming you find a few cars on auto trader exactly like you want it.

I think an order only takes about 2 months as that's the range most people here who ordered their 370z got them in. I too want the Monterey/Persimmon but I don't think much dealers in the West Coast has it for some reason.

i was told it supposed to take anywhere from 5 to 6 months because apparently all z's are made in japan. just what my dealer told me.

Yes all Z's are made in Japan and most of the wait time is likely the transport on a ship to the States.

Here's a link where I learned it takes about 10 weeks from the date of order to receiving the car (at least in CA):

Dealership contact/updates after ordering a car

It might be different time frames depending on where you live, or it could be the dealer misinforming you to get you to buy one off their lot.
