OP, no one is giving you a hard time. Like I said earlier , consider making a move during the off-season; you might get some deal closer to your budget.

Quite the contrary. If you just dress well and ask nicely enough, a car salesman will just throw away a month's salary to help you finance your dream car. :roflpuke2::roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

I mean, that's just my experience. My salesman pulled his kid out of college so that I could get a good deal on a Z.that and I suck a mean... weiner :roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

:excited:

The leather seats only come in the touring package. The back up cam in the nav screen of course you need nav. However you can get the back up cam from the factory without nav even on the nismo but the image will be in the rear view mirror and not the nav screen as you don't have it. One change for 2012 is a small oil cooler so that salesmen doesn't really know what he was talking about.

Is that true?

Also sucks that some people are misquoting my specs and then everyone else is just going on that false information. I never said I wanted nav. Nor did I want touring. I thought I could factory build a Z and have the leather seats thrown in without a package. I thought you could do this with any manufacturer. I guess Nissan doesnt, and you have no choice but to get packages. When I said I wanted backup cam I meant the little mirror backup camera thing, not the full in dash LCD system. The idea was that MSRP would be something like 36.5k (if I could selectively add something like leather and nothing else) and then hold back + dealer incentives + end of year buying freeze + mysterious unknown profit margins might = $2000 off cost and dealer makes like $300 from me.

So I think ultimately it will come down to a debate between touring or sports. Comfort vs style. Does anyone have any experience riding the base vs touring model Z? Is there a noticeable difference without lumbar support and leather? Do you like to adjust your seats depending on driving style?

Base has smaller rims, no sports brake, no heated/cooled leather seat, no bose sound system, no nav. Get a test drive for both trims to see if the additional comfort features are something you must or must not have.

get both the touring + nav and sports package. Wish I had held out till I found that car. The overall price was holding me back, first big purchase for myself so I was having a slight case of sticker shock. But you gotta look at what your monthly payments would be, $3000 added to the overall price makes the monthly payment go up very little. Do both touring and sports package, I promise you will not be dissapointed.

You also mention TTL and all other fees which is gonna be around $2k which you want the dealer to eat. That hardly seems reasonable or profitable to ANY dealership. I'm not trying to be negative or anything, just trying to be realistic. By the way, that price is pretty close to what I paid for my 09 Touring w/o the sports package. No incentives and it was the first year run, so I think I got a pretty good deal considering.

The base seats aren't too bad, but the touring package does make a world of difference if your driving the Z every day. I guess it depends on what your plans are for the car. If you plan on using it as a DD, I would lean towards the Touring. If you plan on driving it on the weekends or the occassional track day, the Sports Package would be more suitable.

imo the touring pkg isn't worth it, but sports pkg probably is.

I've driven mine (base/base) and someone else's (sports/touring). The base seats are more comfy imo, although they don't have seat heaters. The touring stereo has bose, but I don't think it's all that much better than base, which is to say that both suck. The sports package will give you better brakes, a limited slip diff, and some minor but costly visual upgrades, plus SRM.

You're confusing "what they're actually worth" with "what the dealer will charge". :stirthepot::roflpuke2:

All car companies do packages not pick and choose parts that you like. It's not just Nissan, go ahead and try and do that with any brand and see how far you get.
