Default Ordering a 2012-any advice?

So went to the dealer yesterday & there's not a car on a lot in the US with the combinations I would want. So I'm going to order one. Figure that will get me most of the way through the winter with my truck anyway. Telling me 20-24 weeks out.

So here's what I'm thinking about - anything I'm missing?

Touring with Sport package in Monterrey Blue with Persimmon interior. Only accessories would be mats and splash guards.

I'm really debating the Nav. It's not as much for the Nav itself, but all the other stuff that goes with it (the HD, iPod extras, etc.). Is it worth it? I'm going to have them price it out both ways so I know exactly what I am (or would be) paying for it. I do use a GPS maybe once a week or so , but I just have a portable Garmin. Just curious as to what others think.

So, how's that look? There aren't a lot of options on this car, so it's not like trying to build a Mini or something where you have to make 5 different color choices for the interior alone.

I think the nav system is great, especially with the xm traffic and weather. You will get several people that will tell you that it's not worth the price and you can get a better system or just use a portable. I wouldn't say they are wrong but I really like the factory integration and couldn't be happier with the system. Good luck no matter what you decide.

Damn you!
I'm in New Castle. My parents are from Ft. Wayne though. I'm working with a dealer in Muncie. My mom just bought a Maxima from there & they really treated her right (price, service, everything).

After driving her Maxima one day when it was 95* out, I soooo wish they did the ventilated seats in the 370 Coupe.

Oh-did I mention...damn you!

There's nothing like custom stereos, they sound better and there's more pride in taking part in the awesome sound your car will produce. I find the sound quality of the stock system to be poor for the price though the interface is rather pleasant and user friendly.

I have a battery operated speaker that sits in my console hooked to my iPod now. Anything will be a step up.

Definitely get the nav package. I've had it in my G for four years. Awesome system, and very efficient. Also ordered it on my Z. The ipod interface, flash drive, xm traffic/weather and rear view cam are such nice features to have. I know that this can be set up aftermarket, but its a hassle. Its a great feeling to pick up your car fully equiped and ready to go. Plus IMO nothing looks more flush than the factory nav package....it really completes the interior quite nicely.

The Z nav is honestly the best factory nav I have used. I highly recommend it if you can afford it.

IMO I would opt for the aftermarket radio/nav unit and save the money. You are able to get better sound and sound control with and aftermarket head unit. shop around and you will find a radio that has all the same features, but the sound quality is tops. I went with a Kenwood DNX 9960 for my SUV. For what the dealer is going to charge you for a NAV unit you can outfit the car with better aftermarket radio, amp, speakers, and sub.

On the other hand having the fatory radio/nav is also a nice feature due to the fact that you don't have to part with your vehicle while they install.

I just ordered a 2012 NISMO Z and this is the aftermarket system I was looking to purchase:

1) Kenwood DNX 9980HD $1,800.00 radio
2)Alpine PDX-5 $600.00 amp
3)Boston Acoustics SR60 $300.00 6-1/2 seperates for doors
4)Boston Acoustics S35 $60.00 3-1/2 2-way for the rear
5)Wicked CAS 370z Magic Box with sub $820.00 JL 13TW5

Total: $3,580.00 For superior sound quality and happiness.

Remember that my personal taste is high fidelity sound.... just the way I am.

I agree that aftermarket may allow more control and better sound, but they never integrate with the car as nicely as the OEM unit. Moreover, the aftermarket have to go in a very non-ideal location near the gear shift nob. If it weren't for the cubby (which I think is ugly) I would definitely consider aftermarket. As is, I am onto month number 6 of trying to find/order a combo I want with NAV.
