Default general comment about dealerships

i know there are some shady dealerships out there as some of you guys can swear to. but wanted to share a story on one i go to even though i didn't even buy my 370 there. they just added an express service bay for oil changes and such so i thought i would take my car by for an oil change.

since i knew they didn't carry mobil 1 i brought my own including the mobil 1 filter... anyway to the point the bill was 18.00! which included a detail..

and they gave me a pre loaded swipe card with 25.00 bucks loaded on it.
each time you need service they add 10% of your bill to the card.. i know what your thinking its a come on. but the way i look at it my next oil change is free less cost of oil and filter... sorry to be long winded.. so there are some
good dealerships out there.........

They probably kept your Mobil 1 and put regular Valvoline....that is why they are being so nice :dunno:

When I do that I ask for the empty containers back BSing them that they have a rebate, even that I don't know if they did put Valvoline in it.

I do not trust the stealerships at all!

You guys should just do your own oil change. Dealers make money from service.

however, there is nothing wrong with someone making money on providing a service. Funny thing is, all said and done it probably takes just as long to do the oil change your self as it does to take it in in terms of your own time. You have to drive there, get a ride back from someone, then get a ride back to the dealer to pickup your car, unless you wait, and they take forever sometimes. Takes about an hour to do it yourself with ramps.

I went to the local CHevy dealership for new tires on my Infiniti. They put 2 new goodyears up front, mount, balance, and tires cost me $176 out the door.

Oh, they also paid for a cab ride home for me, and back to the dealership (total cost on the meter for both trips added togather was near $50. I live 13 miles away) so that I could sleep throughout the day, as is my schedule as they had to order the tires from a warehouse and it would be noon before they arrived.

You really can't beat that. Not all dealerships suck. That one beat a local tire-shop and a Firestone by $75 and $100, plus the cab-ride.

no doubt that most dealership's over charge for some services.
and some have bad raps thats a given.. like some z drivers act like idiots on
the road while others have more class. can't judge the whole bunch by a couple of bad ones... i live in a small market 125,00 so the dealers keep each other honest..

hopefully i never get to the point where i would think they would pour out my oil for a cheaper one! if you think that they are doing all changes with
wal-mart select brand......................

You just have to be real careful especially when you are getting a great deal. Most dealerships are quantity over quality. Both of my brother-in-laws are techs at major dealerships. They tell me all the time how it is more important to do the job quickly over doing the job the best.
