Default Odometer off the lot

Hi. I just purchased a 370Z but the dealer didn't have the one I want. He gave me two options. The first is that I wait for one to be shipped here from Japan. He said it may take a while. He estimated between now and the middle/end of June. Anyone know how long it usually takes?

The other option is they ship one here from the next town over. My only issue with that is that the car already has 155km (96 mi) on it and the dealer said it wasn't test driven. Any idea if that is a fair assessment? Seems like a lot of miles/kilometers on a brand new car. I'm just worried that if it was test driven then someone would try and see what the car could/couldn't do and those KMs probably someone pushing the car. Should I just wait? How many kilometers/miles should I expect on the car before I take it?

Any advice would be great!

96 miles.... it was test driven. Or driven from a dealership to the one it's at. Just make a big stink out of it and get it real cheap, but make sure there's no rock chips or anything like that on it.

My Z had about 33 miles on it if I remember correctly.

Don't worry about it, its under warrantee. Mine had 300 miles on it but it was a 2009 so it got it's fair share of test drives!

I told my dealer if the car had more than 10 miles on it, I would not accept it. I wanted to break-it-in myself. Mine had 6 miles on it & that included going to the local gas station when they filled it up for delivery.

96miles is nothing. i'd take it.

although my Z had less the 5miles when i first test drove it. it still had all the vinyl wrapping on so my arse slipped around during the quick test drive. hahha.

Mine will be about the same time end of June/early July....I didn't have a choice but if I did I would have ordered it...for the money we are paying I would want something new never drive by someone..

That's just me and the KM's you mention are not that high but I would want it new unless you get a good deal...

I decided to hold off. I just wasn't comfortable with a car that has been on the dealer lot. I'm going to be paying $46,000 (CDN) and I'd rather have something I know has never been driven. Four weeks won't kill me (hopefully).

Either way the car wont have 0 miles on it. They drive the cars at the factory and initial break in of the motors have already been done.

Well if you want to save some ca$h, get the car now (by using the milage as leverage to lower the price), else wait the 4 weeks and pay 46K CAD. :P

I understand that. But at least then I know it's someone from the factory and not some Joe Blow trying to see how far he can rev the engine before it starts cutting out.

Because it's not at the dealership they said it'll cost $420 to ship the car and I would have to pay half.

but you wont be guaranteed that it wasn't repaired at the port when it arrives. you never know what you get. repairing transit damage is a norm. you may end up with a crappier car than a clean 96mile test car.

Okay, but then based on your comment that "repairing transit damage is a norm" wouldn't the 96 mile car also have some repaired transport damage? I really don't know what I'm going to get until they ship the car to the dealer as well. I guess the only difference here is I'm waiting four+ weeks.

it might. it might not. never know unless you know how to look at paints. the only difference is not just 4 weeks. there are MANY things that can potentially go wrong during car delivery so this is why im commenting.

you're not guaranteed a perfect car even if it's brand new. you might even get the dreaded high pitched ECU.
