If they never did an oil change for 60k miles, I'm sure they never bothered with ANY maintenance or just simply neglected the car. Probably ran it on 87 octane, regularly went thru bristle-touch car washes, and smoked in the car too

I would skip it altogether because it's an auto trans. But what you say, 60k without services and a "bad engine", let's assume you need to swap it, as well as do minimum work on rest of the car, you're looking at additional ~5k at least on the buying price. I'd skip it, I don't see any added value in buying such a car.

Not worth it at all. Run for the hills and fast on this one.

Not a good over all situation, unless you can get it real cheap
I had to buy a new manual transmission for my 370Z, it was 2500, + 1500 installation.
Now if the motor is bad, figure out the cost of a new motor + installation.
Then all the other stuff, shocks, springs, hoses, belts, A/C unit, etc.

it adds up really fast, when you start thinking about what needs to be done...

You can start with the private sale price from KBB and figure it out that way..
Then you will see how much.

Make an offer based on that if you are really interested in it.

So end result no, not good, but at least you can figure out what it might cost

OP, what is your goal?

Are you looking to pick up on a project car, regardless of price/cost?
Or would this be a daily driver?

Weigh our your pros and cons vs your goals.

On a side note, what moron doesn’t change the oil for 60k miles?

A moron is exactly right. I've seen it numerous times throughout my career. Then, people cry when they need an engine. People also seem to think Diesels don't need oil changes as often compared to gas engines.

I'm at a lost for words on how an engine could make it to 60K without an oil change. It was either really good oil or a really good engine (my vote is for the latter). Can't imagine the sludge inside lol.

It's sh!t like that that worries me when buying a used car, as most of these items don't make it to the Carfax.

It looks like mud or a little bit more fluid version of tar.

I will personally only buy cars new unless I need a beater for winter.

When I was spinning wrenches for a living. Used to see this all the time. People just forget, or the vehicle has more than one driver.

The body and suspension are in great shape. She claims she did oil change but had no proof so no warranty. I was planning on doing the repairs, and then
Evaluate the situation and see if I want to sell that one or my
Convertible
I offered her 10k still waiting for a response
Repair I’m looking at 7-8 k for the engine replacement assuming there
Isn’t any other issues

Forgetting is going 1 extra change interval. 60K is just outright brain-dead.
