I've been eyeing it since they first got it in their lot. The sticker price started at $29,900 USD. Then over the past 4 weeks it dropped several times. Then finally over labor day it dropped to 26,900.

I've been to dealership to negotiate when it was stickered at $28900 USD, they essentially offered 30750 OTD or 30500 OTD without CPO. I declined altogether. Glad I did.

Is this worth getting?
How much do you guys think the dealership paid for it?
KBB says it's $26000 USD trade in, but I feel they didn't pay that.
If it is worth it, then what could I use for leverage at this point?

edit: i just realized that i posted this in the wrong thread my bad

Someone posted last week that they picked up a 2013 sport tour with 30k miles for $25.5k.

It doesn't matter what the dealer paid. If they paid $100 for it, they're not going to use their standard mark-up percentage and pass the great deal on to you. And what they told the person that traded it in isn't necessarily what the bookkeepers think they paid for it (eg, dealer may have given over book value for car, on paper, but jacked up the price of the new car, higher interest rate, &c).

Look up what the big online car sites say it's worth in your area and go from there.

what matters is what you pay not what they paid.

They gave me 10K trade in for my beat up Xtterra with 180K miles and stuck it right back out on the lot after a thorough cleaning for 12K. I'm almost certain they would take the for 8 or 9 offered. Some times to make deals work on paper they over pay on the trade in. I don't think that price is always factored in when resold.

Dealerships have a new tool that they have been using for a few years now. Black Book, it usually is gives much less trade in than KBB or NADA. If you like the car go back and give them a new offer.

Default How much did the dealership pay for this?

26k sounds to me like a fairly good deal considering it has low miles, it's 2013 and it has both sport and touring. I'm guessing the dealer paid like 23 or 24 for it but that's at an auction and you'll never find it at that price.

They may have paid even more, sometimes these MT cars don't sell and they want to move them and make space for more cars. They can sell probably six altimas in six months if they clear the space (if it's a very small dealership where space is an issue) instead of parking the Z there for six months and it only gets older and older.

I paid 21.5 for my 2012 sport with 38k miles that was a lease return. The guy showed me the photocopy of the lease payoff check for 21k. He wasn't trying to make a profit on it, he needed to move it. I know all car salesmen say that, but sometimes it's true they price a car low to get it off the lot, it does happen.

What color is it, is it stock and hasn't been abused? I'd move on this car if I were you.

Seems like a good deal considering it is still under warranty and in great condition with low mileage. Depends on the color combo, fully loaded ones are harder to find.

I suppose the most important thing is how much you like it.

No, no, no.

Dealerships usually give you about $2,000 below LOW kelly blue book. So if the low KBB is $26K, they'll hit you at 23,500-24000. If you agree to their 'trade in' value, then they'll turn around and try to mark it at HIGH KBB. And it's room to negotiate if you're trying to buy it. They rarely let you have it at what it cost them. If it sits too long at the lot, then the used car manager will trade to another Nissan dealer, or any dealer in general, that has a high demand for it. So if it sits for 6 months at XYZ Nissan, but it doesn't get any serious bites, then the used car manager will sell it or trade it, for something that is a hot seller, be it a Nissan Maxima, Honda Accord, etc., to another dealer.

If you can get it for low KBB with CPO, then that's a bargain. If you can get it at mid KBB with CPO, you didn't do so bad. If you get it at high KBB with CPO, then you should've negotiated harder. They're not gonna let you take it without them making a dime. Think about it: If you ran the business, you wouldn't let customers do that to you. So don't be so cheap and expect something unreasonable.

If that doesn't work for you, then buy private party.
