Default Just came from the dealership.

Hello, fellow forum members.

I just came back from the Nissan Dealership in the Universal City. Test drove their 2012 (i believe) 370Z Roadster.

Fell in love right away. Felt amazing and the sound is just incredible

I was looking to purchase 2012 Touring Sport Nav 7AT,
but some experts say that there might not be available any fully loaded Z's in September.
I decided to go ahead and order 2013 PW/Persimmon Touring Sport Nav 7AT.
The dealer told me that he would give me a call in a couple of days regarding the price and stuff like that.

I was very nice to him, but made him know that I am not a type of person who they can extract a lot of cash from.

Now eagerly waiting for him to call me back and specify all the details!
___
Any suggestions on how to talk to him regarding prices etc.? How far can I push?
Also, I told him that I don't need any "minor" options like illuminated kick plates etc., what if he orders some of them and will make me pay for them too?

Thanks in advance.

Peace, yo. :P

if you have good credit and put down a little bit of money youre still looking at a 550 or 600 a month payment.

I forgot to mention, I am not financing it.
Just want to pay once and for all.

Also, what I noticed is that there was no kickdown button on the gas pedal.
I searched on forums, and it seems some Zs have them some not? Why is that?

Cash up front should give you the advantage-too bad you're not closer I would send my husband out to help you negotiate-he is da bomb when being hard line and knowing when to give in :-) Rule No.1: Be willing to walk away. Have it set in your mind before you start...helped us tremendously.

if you are truly paying cash/bank certified check, inform him this is the exact amount you will pay and you will give them 5-10% down to secure the car at this pre-arranged amount.

i.e. $35,000 total for the car, putting down $3,500 to secure this exact price for this car and will take delivery by xx/xx/2012 effectively creating a purchase order contract with them...

(this is not legal advise)

Truecar's website will be your best friend, and for any new car buyer. Make sure you don't settle for MSRP, agree on invoice price first (then add TT&L for the final price).

What is TT&L?

It would have been amazing, thanks anyways!
I feel very confident to walk away if the price will not be right!

About the 10% down payment, seriously? That seems a lot for the down payment imo.

That's pretty standard. I actually put more down for mine lol. I put about 5k down payment + my trade in. Helped lower my monthly payments too.

Regarding payments, I'd start at invoice pricing (not sure if it's available for 2013 models or not) and work from there.

I am not sure if it is available, but the salesman told me that he would give me a call either today or tomorrow. Originally I didn't plan to spend more than invoice +$1k at max.

p.s. I forgot to tell him that I wanted a rear backup cam as well. Is it possible to install it after, considering I'd have the oem nav?

FYI I RAN from universal city cussing their sales manager saying "we don't sell cars under msrp"!!! I ended up buying from Miller Nissan in Van Nuys and had no issues, I printed zagg or true car pricing and showed them they beat it just a bit....

TTL is going to add about another $3500 I think (based off 2012 invoice price of $37000 tour+sport) so don't forget to factor that in. Might be a couple hundred more since you're going for a vert+nav package as well.

I'm pretty certain with the 2012 models the backup cam comes with stock nav. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I will be getting a coupe anyways. Testdrove the roadster, just because they didn't have automatic coupe. :P but roadster was fun.

I am here: Google Maps
I've had different issues with Universal. Ever since looking for a quote online they keep calling me with their "event coordinators" who know absolutely nothing about cars* asking me to go in for a test drive. I keep telling them to put me on with someone from sales so we can talk about price because I've already driven the car and I'm looking to buy. Stop wasting both of our times and "coordinate" me with someone who can actually make a deal with me. Three times I've been called by these so called event coordinators and three times they said someone will sales will get in contact with me with the hour. Never happened. I'm convinced Universal is just full of a bunch of drones making desperate phone calls and wasting people's time.

*When I say they know nothing I mean they can't even give me an MSRP price for the vehicle. For example I told them I wast interested in touring+sport and they kept telling me that the car I'm looking for is $32k. Waste of time...
