Default Chicago Autoshow 2014

Hey all. Just wanted to post some pics from my weekend outing the Chicago Autoshow.

All photos were taken with my utterly craptastic 5 year old 8 megapixel camera. So not the best quality but shows you what was going on.

Nothing too earth-shattering that wasn't already covered. Was hoping to see more Nissan concepts. Guess I should have gone to Tokyo instead.

I was having a hard time watching the public man-handle the Nismo. While I was standing there someone broke the rear hatch and then everyone else that came up to it had to try their hand at slamming it closed. Poor car.

Also you will notice that I unfortunately couldn't get a good shot of the GTR.
Between the weekend crowds and it being roped off it was impossible to get a clear shot.

Anyway, I was actually surprised that the crowd around the Nismo was about the same as the GTR.

I am really hoping to see that matte finish on the Nismo GTR make it to our side in the future. It is a great look from the factory.
frost, shadoquad and Bummer like this.

Thanks for sharing. One thing I noticed about Nissan in their booths is they only feature one of each. Unlike some other brands where they put a couple for visual impact and presentation. Then again, people man-handle these cars so bad and treat it like crap. Poor Nismo, people probably slammed it shut many times pulling it down from the wing.

when i went to the auto show in detroit they had put the GTR way back in the corner and no one checked it out at all, really the new maxima replacement was the only nissan that got any kind of attention while i was there at least.

Nissan did actually put thought into their layout but it lacked the cool factor. I realized both the matte grey Juke and GTR were roped off probably because the paint would look hideous with everyone touching them.

There were two Leafs (including one on a raised platform?) - Those were almost the highlight of the display, likely to continue to encourage the strong sales that they had last year.

Since Z sales weren't as robust - our favorite model got out on the floor with no protection while guys waited in line to crawl in and out of it - which for some reason reminded me of girl I knew in high school. We called her "joint" - Kudos to you if you get why. ha ha

I suppose the thinking from Nissan is along the lines of - Having potential customers interact with the car will increase conversions for sales.

The non-Nismo GTR was also out in the open but I believe the doors were locked. People just molested the exterior.

Man - being a car guy at one of these things was tough. I had to stop myself from "correcting" people when I heard someone say "yes it has 370hp - that's why its called that." I also really wanted to wipe the fingerprints from the car. Guess they will have to get their own to see things through our eyes. ha ha.

I must admit I was one who crawled into and out of it, only because I haven't sat in mine in months and missed the feel.

Agreed. I enjoyed the show but was glad to realize I will remain in Z and for the future. I will say the Matte grey Nismo GTR was looking pretty good. Don't know how well that paint scheme would hold up on our cars though. Seems to go better with the more angular vehicles.
