While I agree with you, I hope we're both wrong since I'm a long time fan of the Z car, particularly the 300ZX.

i believe you have to be low on fuel... 4 dots or lower i think.

I get fuel starvation 2 dots down at NOLA MSP, roughly after two laps from a full tank start, from turn 5 on (2.75 mile config); although non-issue at Barber MSP. The car is great but not being able to enjoy the full session is highly annoying.

I got a little fuel hiccup (turn 2) only 2 dots down at big Willow Springs. Had to get out of the throttle. Killed my lap times. I'm sick of the fuel issue. Time to get that anti-fuel starve pump.

i can see stuff like that being a big reason as to why people wouldn't get another Z. from the CSC failures to the fuel starvation, nissan is aware of these, but yet do nothing to fix them. that's not taking care of your customer.

Unfortunately for a few, I don't really think the fuel starvation issue is an issue for the average driver, and if you're racing the car then it's just one more thing in an already fairly long list of preparation the car needs.

i know i read somewhere that the fuel starvation issue was affecting some people when they were low on fuel. i think it said that if 4 dots or below and they made a sharp turn it would shut off.

That is true. I guess some drivers might experience it on the right off-ramp with a low tank.

I usually refill at around half a tank of gas but I've run it down to a few dots above a quarter of a tank with no issues on any of the ramps I took at reasonable (but fast) speeds.

If/when I race the car - real air to oil cooler, brake ducts, pads, brake fluid, CSC and the surge tank would get it working pretty well. Oh and a real mechanical LSD. That's not bad for what is arguably a $32K car.

i usually don't let get under 4 dots and i haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood) lol.

it's not bad but considering the nismo is 40k and they didn't even fix the issue there, it sort of becomes a bad trait. they should offer at least free installation for the after market CSC or fuel pump.

When you put things into perspective - the fuel starvation and the CSC issues are fairly minimal problems in the grand scheme of things. Both can be rectified with aftermarket parts if you're serious enough about fixing the issue. No car is perfect.

At least your airbags aren't exploding in your face or your start buttons setting the car on fire, or the car accelerating on its own on the interstate or in the garage.

I mean... everyone's grenaded a transmission due to a launch feature the car has, right?

I have never owned a car that didn't have some sort of quirk to it, and I never will. It's knowing what the quirks could possibly be, determining if it's the proper lesser of evils for your expectations, and getting into bed with them comfortably. Kind of like marriage.
