Pros and cons, Nismo vs Sports package?

Base model Z is docile to me and too soft for my taste, but in all honestly I'm disappointed in the Z brand entirely. I remember the 90-91 Twin Turbo

Base model Z is docile to me and too soft for my taste, but in all honestly I'm disappointed in the Z brand entirely. I remember the 90-91 Twin Turbo Z was in comparison with dam near every high performance car on the market, Corvette, NSX, Ferrari 360, Supra, 911 Turbo ect. Now it's in the company of a Hyundai Genesis, BRZ, WRX/STI, Golf GTI, 335i ect. Sad thing is this......... Both the Supra and NSX will reamerge soon and they'll be nothing short of borderline exotics and that's where the Z should be. Of course the GTR is in its place, but the Z was a solid contender at one point up in those ranks and as much as I love it, it needs to be in comparison with at least the M4, C63, RS5, C7 the new RC-F. Just my opinion.

Well, many of us probably can't afford it if the Z is a borderline exotics like the 2nd generation NSX or even the 1st generation which cost around $90k in 2005.

Who cares what the Z compares to. Most of us have a budget and get whatever is best for us.

Personally I am glad that Nissan made the Z affordable for us.

If that works for you, then that's very nice.

I looked at the nismo and prefer the sport looks. For what I do with it, the performance difference (what little there is) doesn't matter. I'm not a car guy, but I love cars. Not sure if that counts or if I just proved an earlier point.

Either way, the choice is definitely first world problems. Kind of like did you buy a Patek Phillipe or an Omega watch? Both of them are great, but one is obviously better... right? (or so the price tags tell us) Did you sign your sales contract with a Montblanc or a Parker? Montblanc's definitely perform and look better...

it is interesting that topic like this always places too much emphasis in the performance stats while it often neglects the most important factor in car ownership - the emotional factor.

Totally. An affordable Z is awesome business. However with the NISMO editions, Nissan shows it's willing to make a "premium cost" version with extra fixings.

So keep the affordable base Z models, but I'm fine with them also providing an expensive version with more power/goodies. Some of us have the extra $$$ to splurge if it's enticing enough. Protip: Don't get married.
