I want a 370z sooo bad lol I cant think of another car for under $25k that is as cool/fun/beautiful as a 370z.

Is the 09 years the same as the 2014? Performance-wise? Or is it the same as the DE/HR thing with the 350's? I made the mistake and got the "crappy" DE 350z without knowing there was a better performing 350z model.

I dont wanna make a mistake and get the "crappy" version of the 370z

Jordo! 11-21-2014 04:57 PM

Jesus Christ. Your life is an action movie and you got stuck doing your own stunts.

Glad you are okay. If that dude attempted to flee and tried to run you down he must have had a record and/or multiple past DUI's (or he's a just complete idiot/psycho...) so after this craziness he should be going bye-bye for a while... good luck with the lawsuit; you certainly deserve some serious compensation for all that.

There's two different shades of blue for the Z34 now -- the pre-facelift one came in a lighter blue and the newest one comes in a nice dark blue. Neither is Daytona shade, but I think you'll be very happy with one of those.

JARblue 11-21-2014 04:58 PM

Engine is identical. 2009, as the first model year, has a few more kinks that were worked out in the later models. I would look for 2011 or later. 2013 or later if you prefer the newer wheels and front bumper. If you are so inclined, with a little bit of research, you should be able to find all the minor differences in each model year (like the 2012 model introduced a small water-based oil cooler).

wanker 11-21-2014 06:47 PM

Glad you're okay. Get a 370z it's a noticeable improvement over the 350z. Do not hesitate to upgrade. You can easily find a used 370z in your price range.

czirrfb 11-21-2014 07:45 PM

Yeah it was like an action movie, I figured no "normal person" would attempt to drive away if you stand in front of their car, but this guy clearly had no value for other peoples lives.

Thanks, I agree Daytona Blue is the best color Nissan has made IMO. Here are some more pics when I first got her.

My plan was to get some black wheels and lower it a bit, like in this photo. Black and blue looks amazing.

I found a pic online of someone who painted their 370z the same color, looks sick!

cab83_750 11-22-2014 11:59 AM

SKIP THE 09! I'll be flamed for this but why take chances. As stated before, the first year model had a few (wink, wink, wink) kinks that some experienced and some did not.

Just be grateful you are okay.

As a person who has had 8 accidents in a 10 year period, here are my advice based on personal experience:

1. Most drunk drivers have very little insurance coverage. Possibly even $0.00 insurance --- no coverage.
2. Get a lawyer, if you have not!
3. Wait a minimum of 6 months before signing off on anything. The body may hide something and the damage/illness may stick out its ugly head after many months.
4. Educate yourself with your own insurance. I am hoping you have "underinsured" coversge so that your insurance will pay you the difference if the other party cannot.
5. Insurance companies are very smart. This means that in most cases, your settlement would mostly be just above "breaking-even". Again, this is just the norm and there will be others where your reward or settlement would be very satisfactory.
6. Expect the worst that you may never be compensated fairly. This way, when the worst happens, you don't get depressed further. Again, BE READY FOR NOTHING.
7. The beauty of expecting the worst is that when the worst does not come and the good comes, you become a double-winner.

As for cars, I do understand that that the 350 and the s2000 are nice cars. However, get a newer and proven car. That assumes that there are no major financial reason why you need to buy the older model. If I were in your case, I would get a used 370.

Good luck

P.s,

6 of my 8 accidents were all SUV-caused rear ends. 1 pick up truck and one cement mixer trucks. :)

And yes, I have lost my career, my job, my savings, unable to work for almost 2 years, in bed alone for months, numerous surgeries (hip, neck, shoulders, etc) from these accident. I am still kicking today --- SO HANG IN THERE!

czirrfb 11-22-2014 07:01 PM

I got some more pics of myself after the incident along with the paperwork the cops gave me that night.

My hospital bills are gonna be insane. I had to ride in the ambulance and stay in the intensive care for a week and they kept doing scans of my head because I had a brain clotting that might require surgery. I had 2 IV's in my arms and I had to miss a week of work, it was sucky! I constantly have headaches that wont seem to go away now. I have a lawyer helping me out, they gave me a rental car for a week, but after that I wont have a way to get to work besides the bus or something.

czirrfb 11-22-2014 07:17 PM

This was basically the moment my life flashed before my eyes, after he hit me and I landed on his hood and made my way to the roof. It was scary as hell. Also it felt like something out of a movie. He was driving super recklessly down the public road, fortunately there weren't many people out that he could crash into. His radiator started leaking after he hit me, im surprised his SUV was able to drive so quickly. Im curious how the cops were able to catch him, because when he took a sharp turn thats when I got knocked off the roof and smashed into the ground and got knocked out for who knows how long, I managed to flag down a car and called 911, they came to pick me up and rushed me over to identify him.

Because of it they put a charge of attempted vehicular manslaughter I think. Along with a DUI and endangerment and wreckless driving etc. I am unsure of the charges.

While I was on the roof of his car and he was flying down the road my life was flashing before me eyes, I literally thought I was going to die.

sounds like some james bond type of sht 0.o

I was rear-ended and the guy read-ended me again on his way to run off.... he ended up reversing and fled off...

But that is nothing comparing to your case, I'm so glad they caught the f*cker and that 3-7 yrs in jail for him is such a nice punishment for what you have to go throuh... At least you're safe and still able to go on here :p

Because Honda hasn't made a "cool" car since it went out of production. :p

You guys are really cool and supportive! Im glad to be a member of these forums, I hope to join you guys one day and own a 370z, I will update this once my case is settled, I hope I get some compensation for that guy trying to literally murder me....

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you are ok. I am thinking of selling my "Z" It is a 2010 base coupe with the sport package. It is the Monteray(sp) blue with 6 speed manual. I have just under 22,000 miles. I live here in cedar rapids Iowa where we have crazy winter weather, but my "Z" has never been driven in the winter. The only mod I have is a CBE. Also the steering lock problem was fixed my the dealer because mine was covered by the Nissan recall. Take care and be careful out there.

How much are you selling it for?

srbrubak 11-24-2014 10:19 PM

Right now I would like to get $21,750. Just to add, I have enjoyed the "Z" but living here in Iowa, I need a year round daily driver. I just read that Mazda has a car that I like, is fun to drive and would make a good Year round daily driver.

It's a sign..... Get a Nismo 370Z

czirrfb 11-25-2014 08:33 PM

UPDATE:

So I found a used 2010 40th aniversary 370z metalic grey color with red interior with 33k miles.

They are asking $23,000 they want $2,000 down and my monthly payments will be $448 with 10%apr which I can refinance after 12 months to reduce.

Should I get it?

EDIT: Here is a pic of it at the dealership, they are putting brand new tires on it.http://i.imgur.com/X0CRoadh.jpg

Price looks good for a 40th but 10% APR for me that's way too much to pay, but that's just me...maybe finance it from a bank or other credit unions ...GL keep us updated!

Its because my credit kinda sucks =/ the sales guy told me that after 12 months if I make payments on time I can refinance and get it lowered.

370zHawaii 11-25-2014 08:55 PM

Dude, Bro, friend, I am sorry about your INSANE incident seriously. Not going to lie to you, there was a part of your story that made me LMMFAO almost in tears, because I envisioned it in my head like some crazy action scene from a movie.

Anyway I am really glad you are "ok". I quote "ok" because you never really know if you are ok from that type of trauma to the head, years later you could develop something because of this incident. Therefore I recommend getting thoroughly checked out by docs, and get a second opinion as well. I only say the because I had a TBI while I was active duty and it still affects me til this day.

And welcome to the forum!!! It is unfortunate that it had to be like this but now you are part of one of the best car enthusiast forums in the globe IMHO. When you get your 370z you will be very pleased, I am a firm believer that these kind of things happen for a reason. I hope for a richly positive result for you. Take care and get well:tiphat:

370zHawaii 11-25-2014 09:04 PM

Also the insurance gave you 12k for your car, did they take care of your med bills? If so use more than 2K to put down, try 5K it will lower your monthly payments and then refinance in 6 months with a lower APR with a credit union. I say go for it, the 40th is SCHWEEEEET! or keep shopping around until you find a Nismo:driving:

I only had my 350 for less than a year. I still owed 11k on the 350 when I got in the accident. They only gave me $12,333 for my car after it was totaled and they took away $1,000 for the debductible. So I got the loan paid off and only $333 on top....

czirrfb 11-25-2014 10:07 PM

Do you guys think its not worth it with 10%APR?

Should I just save $ and take the bus or something for a while? I did some math...

Payments+insurance+gas is gonna cost me about $700 per month for this specific car. And that came out to around almost $9,000 per year and with the APR so high in a year I will have only paid like 4-5k to the 23k loan at which point I could try and refinance and get a lower APR.

I dunno if its worth it, but im in love with the car....

I make about $2,300 per month. I have the following bills....
Rent - My half - $450
Dental - $150 (almost paid off only owe $1,200)
COX - $60
APS - My half - $50

If I was to get this car it would add an additional $700+ per month. Not including any mods or mechanical things I might have to do to the vehicle.

According to KBB the current "Trade in Value" for this specific vehicle with the miles is around $21k

DavidZ370 11-26-2014 12:14 AM

10 seems too high, save a bit and opt out for a better deal.

Merv 11-26-2014 08:35 AM

I know it's hard to really turn down something you want. It's good that your trying to work it out from a financial view. Just remember you want it to be a good positive experience. spreading yourself thin and always stressing about being able to pay all your bills might take away from your purchase experience. Wouldn't want you to regret buying a 370. Having said that,if you feel you can deal with a financial strain for a year, and you have job stability,I say go for it:tup:
Hopefully in a year you'll get a decent settlement from your Hollywood experience and be able to buy the car outright! And if it's 100% his fault, you should get your 1000$ deductible back. Good luck man:driving:

czirrfb 11-26-2014 09:29 AM

Yeah im gonna pass, because I did the math, with that interest and payments for 72 months im going to be paying like $33,000 for this vehicle, and currently the trade value is only around $20,000 so in 4yrs the car will not be worth much, I will literally be throwing $ away on this car.

So I can either save $ and buy a beater to drive around for a year or I can settle for something not as nice.

Having $ in the bank and being able to go on trips and buy nice things is better than having a 370z honestly. A car is just a car at the end of the day.

czirrfb 11-26-2014 09:42 AM

I honestly think what im going to do is buy a cheap motorcycle so at least I have a means of transportation and can get to/from work so I can save $ for a while and get a car later on down the road

Not spending so much on a vehicle is a good financial plan. You have been through an awful experience, but you will overcome and be back in a Z someday. Waiting a year or two will allow you to own it outright. Put that $700 per month into a savings account and you will.

All the best.

coolvans1988 11-26-2014 10:51 AM

Wow crazy story, well glad you're recovering and pretty sweet that douche got caught.

That price for that Z is good, but the 10% APR is f**ked up. Get a better deal from a bank/credit union that will approve you. Don't get their warranty if its not from a Nissan dealership.

czirrfb 11-26-2014 11:58 AM

I kinda spoiled myself. Now I see the 370z as first place and any other car as a runner up, so I think it would be stupid to "settle" and get something cheaper but not as good as the 370.

But its nice to have goals, and the 370 is my new goal!

1st 11-26-2014 01:53 PM

I say go for it if you can afford the payments then just refi later. One life to live and it was almost taken with that haymaker.

I would love to but I think the cons outweight the pros in my situation.

Cons -

-Wont have much $ left over every month
-Cant go on trips, vacations etc.
-I do not really even drive much, just to work and back and to the store. I live 5 miles from work. So the car wont get much use.
-Cant buy cool stuff like nice new cloths, TV's games etc because over half of my income will go to this vehicle and other bills
-Wont have much to spend on mods
-Will be a target for vandalism
-I would almost have to live paycheck to paycheck
-If my roomate leaves I will be unable to pay the rent myself
-After the loan is up I will have paid $34,000 on the vehicle if the apr stays at 10%
-It is not a "new" vehicle, its nearly 5 years old now, issues are bound to happen eventually
-If I have an emergency come up, I wont have the money to handle it
-If I lose my job, then I wont be able to keep the vehicle and id have to have them repo it, destroying my credit.
-I wont be able to put much if any money away into savings

Pros -
-Beautiful car
-Fast, fun car
-Will make me feel awesome driving it
-Still under factory warranty for 2yrs or until 60k miles
-Will give me a reason to work harder at work
-Will make my credit look nice after I pay it off

Im going to do some math. And add all my current bills up, plus if I got the car.

rent $450 + aps $50 + cox $66 + dental $150 + insurance (guessing $155) + car payments $448 + gas $80(est.) + Food $100 (est.) = $1,500 per month in bills. That is not including anything like if I need to do mechanical things to the vehicle, buy new cloths furniture, go out to the movies, eat, shop etc.

My monthly income is around $2,300 so that leaves me with up to $800 per month if im lucky. If my roomate decides to bail on my I would have to take on the entire rent myself which is around $900.

Fortunitally I only owe $1,200 on my dental until its paid off so that would save me $150/month there

I was thinking. I was paying $250 per month on my 350z. They wanna charge me $448 per month on the 370. So that will basically mean I will be back where I was accept I would be paying an additional $200 per month on bills than I was last month.

FLUJOKE 11-26-2014 03:32 PM

Yeah its super high. The sales guy kept telling me that I would only need to pay that much for a year and just refinance, but of course there is no guarantee it will be lower.

czirrfb 11-26-2014 03:55 PM

I guess the WORST case scenario is I lose my job, cant pay for the car and they repo it and my credit gets destroyed. Its not the end of the world, I wont die, ill just have crappy credit.

I am trying to think if owning this vehicle is worth the cost of ownership along with the worry of "what if" scenarios.

As it is now im debt free and it feels great. But it also sucks not having a sweet ride.

FLUJOKE 11-26-2014 04:01 PM

Man if I could be debt free over having my Z again I would. Life keeps coming at u and if u think crappy credit is ok then ur wayyyyyyy wrong. Wait if u have good credit now how is it 10%? Go find a credit union bank. 2.9%
