Im a member of the GT86 forum. Do not in any way say anything that even resembles competition from another car. Whether it be a 458, a Ford Transit Ecovan, and ESPECIALLY DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, mention the last letter of the alphabet. You WILL be banned immediately. Im on there for LULZ, and they GENUINELY believe they own and drive "the poor mans Ferrari". They compare it to a C7!!! They make "valid" arguments for that comparison!!! The ONLY thing about that car that I like, like mind you, is NOT good, its simply a like, is the handling. It doesnt handle well but its fun to handle. Oh and the looks, its nice, a gutluss-feckin-wonder nice, but nice.

I don't care what somebody else thinks about my car. If you think your car is better, maybe it is. I can live with that. All I care about is my smiles per gallon.

I think the most important thing is that people buy what they want for whatever reasons. No need to justify it. |
As long as you know what your car can do and can not do, do not worry about it. Like everyone said, there is always gonna be fan boys. Obviously someone with a Corvette or Masarati wouldn't be comparing their cars to a lesser car. If they aren't dumb as a brick they would just not say anything.
The BRZ and FRS, is a nice car. From my understanding a long time ago the FRS was suppose to be the new Supra but obviously it was a rumor or changed, now it is suppose to be the new Corolla GTS (AE86) successor. If that is even true. The car has a nice body, great job in that part however, like FRS/BRZ owners say, it does not have enough horsepower. It runs somewhere in the 14's (seconds in the quarter mile). Sadly, my 1990 (25 years ago almost) CRX with only a b16a stock swap (Replica of Japan's CRX SiR stock) and some bolt ons, runs pretty close (14.76). 14 seconds isn't a big deal anymore. With that being said, I hear it does good in the corners though. |
yah, if you're a "car guy" and have sat in a frs/brz and dont like the seating position, then there's something wrong with you... thing reminded me of a s2k and cayman a little bit.

I'll just leave this here. Much cooler than that yellow thing someone posted earlier.

lmao this whole thread is like a giant circle jerk.
But whatevs, 370Z > BRZ/FRS/GT86 any day. |
I looked pretty closely at the FRS when I was in the market. it did handle quite nicely and when living between 3k and 6k on the tach the lack of power wasn't too bad. But when comparing it to the Z, I had to go Z. Mine was around 38K when it was new, I got it for 21K five years and 54,000 miles later. IMO the Z is just higher quality in basically every aspect and I got my Z for cheaper than any FRS that was on the market in my area. I didn't want to shoulder the depreciation of buying brand new.
But if some guy thinks his car is better than mine then that's fine with me, I'm happy and that's all that matters. |

I have lurked around that forum a fair amount. It's so true, like i said before many of those guys are a bid delusional and overhype their cars. Some of their claims defy reality, specs and logic. It is pretty funny when i read one member's claim that the lbs per hp on the gt86 is "very close" to the 370z. Yet another member claimed that by dropping 250lb the GT86 can hit high 13's (about a second faster then stock). Many other members claim that the GT86 can outturn many cars including Z and even beat them on the track, given it had enough twisties. GT86 is a nice car though. |
They are nice to look at, but the 370Z has MORE power. All I care about. Plus they are too small for my taste. Like fiat 500's but with a longer nose. Girl cars.

People have the same lack of power complaint about the 370Z, and rightfully so. In 03 the 350Z was putting out 287HP and that was ~10% higher than the 03 Mustang GT. From 04-08 the 350Z was pushed up to 306HP so it stayed close to the other cars in its class in power.
With the 370Z in 09 it was ahead of the Mustang GTs. But when the 11 GTs came out with the 412HP V8s and then bumping it to 420HP, the Z was left behind. Then the Camaros and Challengers came out and both offer more power than the Z. Even the Genesis can come with a NA V6 pushing out 348HP. Needless to say the BRZ/FRS is below this tier of vehicles that the Z is in. But much like the Z owners compare their car to the performance of the lowest end Porsche, the BRZ/FRS owners compare their car to the sports car on the next price tier up. People just like to feel they got good value for the money spent, in my opinion. |
