We already no there is two engines in development so there's going to be a premium for more power. You will get a new Z for 30,000 just most likely not the one u want. Look how much of a premium you pay for a nismo with an extra 15 hp over a base lol.

If Nissan is going to play in the $60K arena, which I dont think there is snowballs chance in hell of, it just set its target for a 911 S. Insanity. They did that with the 300 back in the 90's. Had Porsche on the ropes with their 911, but ultimitely, it failed, so few people were willing to pay that money for a Nissan on that level. Same goes for the Z35. It has to play with the BIG BOY, the 5.0 or make a REAL serious run at Cayman S territory with 95% of its performance for less than half its price.

Firebase is dead on. The Z is all about affordability and the 300zx was priced out of the No. Am. market when the Yen was stronger than the dollar. Nissan learned its lesson and it's one of the reasons the Z's improvements between subsequent production models have been modest -- cost. If the new stock Z is over $40K, it will fail.

It's also the same story as the Supra. Toyota tried to reinvent it as a higher end sports car and it failed miserably. People just weren't going to pay top dollar for a Toyota, despite its performance. If the new Supra is over $60K as rumored, it will go no where.

I hope your right but I really don't think you are. I don't think nissan is looking at the mustang as much as there looking at the s2000, supra, and a potential new RX-7. All the info we've gotten so far sounds an awful lot like the info we've gotten from Toyota and Honda. So for 30,000 I would expect the turbo 4 and I just don't see that beating the 5.0. The car market has changed a lot since the 300zx. I for one would pay 60k in a second if the car is worth it.

Ive been saying 6 cylinder hybrid for over a year now. Theyll use the existing Q50 stuff, tweak the crap, boom 410+ HP, 5.0 fighter for $30-ish base. They ALREADY have existing hardware to match/best it. Just like the G37 was to the 370. They dont need to re-tool all that much for a Z35. And by the time the Z35 debuts they will have all the hybrid, drivetrain kinks worked out.

Yea, but a starting $60K Nissan? Thats the price point Im seriously staring look at a 911. Id never pay $60K for a Nissan either unless they dropped the price on the GTR lol

i honestly wouldn't pay 60k for Z, even if it did have 400hp. That's just crazy. You have people here who invested about 15-20k and are having 500-600+ whp cars. so why pay for one with 400hp that's 60k. o.0

It is unfortunate that we including myself seem to compare numbers, meaning the higher the HP and TQ numbers the better the car must be. I must confess I have been sucked into this also.

In all honesty why do you think that there are so many stangs and camaros on the road these days? Think about it for a moment. It is simple, price v performance.

When Ford launched the Mustang, wasnt there moto or whatever something to do with power and affordability for the ordinary folks?

Personally for me if money was no objective Id be in a GTR or something a little subtle like an M4. But for bang for buck the GT is a no brainer. But so damn common!

We shall see. I didn't think about the Q50 equipment so you do make a good argument. Still how do explain the two different engine options that we have here'd so much about. By your logic the turbo four model would have to start considerably lower than 30k.

yea, probably an 86 fighter for low, mid 20's, then you step up to $30-32K base, some nice options with tech package etc maybe $39K, much like now, maybe a bit hiher due to inflation but relative for the 5.0, S2000, Supra etc level.

This can't be the new S2000 you all are talking about comparing to the Z, right?

Me? I havent looked up anything about a future S2000, just going off what others stated. That link shows a paltry vehicle for competition for a Z35 platform.

I meant the general 'you'. I looked it up hoping that the news had changed from a sub-200hp econobox. It hasn't.
